Cobra Commander Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Christopher Cross would like to thank all the people who took some time away from sailing in order to attend the Delaware State Fair
Curt McGirt Posted March 6 Posted March 6 I wonder what he's charging since the boat-rock documentary blew up. Jodie can sing! She can still speak French too, as that recent movie proved. Wonder why she never did anything on her soundtracks.
Cobra Commander Posted March 8 Posted March 8 pretty sure I had never heard the Low Rider remix of "Pretty Fly" until just now... on a small town classic hits station that's on RadioGarden and yeah, I guess "Pretty Fly" can qualify for the types of classic hits stations that go through 1999 1
odessasteps Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Im amazed what sometimes passes for classic on en Famine Philly.

Cobra Commander Posted March 9 Posted March 9 if you're very nice about kidnapping someone it's a civil kidnapping meanwhile I heard about a Dwight Yoakam/ZZ Top concert coming to the KC area soonish and I'm sure that's gonna be a fun evening for the people attending it, it also inspired me to adapt the Blues Brother joke to make it make worse: "We have both kinds of music, County and Southern Rock" 1
zendragon Posted March 9 Posted March 9 This a pretty good doc, he played all the instrumentation on the track and sings harmony with himself
odessasteps Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Got to give props to the YT algorithm today,. after playing John Barleycorn Must Die, it gave me Season of the Witch followed by Gallows Pole. Folk horror trifecta..

I want to say this carefully, so I'm not misunderstood. If a rapper makes a song about your wife cheating on you with him, and you file a lawsuit saying he defamed you, you should be 100% sure she didn't cheat with him. Otherwise, you are going to look like a god damned fool. 2
zendragon Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Between the Afro and the suit he should be a wrestling manager
supremebve Posted March 18 Posted March 18 So, I've fallen down the rabbit hole and I can't fathom how the cops are playing the victim here. They basically ran up in his house, accused him of selling drugs and kidnapping, found no evidence of either, but took a bunch of money and returned less than they took. They are suing him because he made a funny rap song about it and claiming the song gave them emotional distress. Where is Ice Cube when we need him?
zendragon Posted March 18 Posted March 18 John Oliver did a whole piece on the fucked up ness of civil forfeiture laws a few years back

Travis Sheldon Posted March 18 Posted March 18 I just found Afroman's YouTube channel and it looks like he has made videos on some of the LEO's that were in his house raid. Some interesting things those fellows got into.
Curt McGirt Posted March 18 Posted March 18 What's a LEO? I can't figure it out from Google. This is a clear case of cops running up into a house, trying to steal from a dude, failing, and trying again.

This is a clear case of cops running up into a house, trying to steal from a dude, failing, and trying again. I can't post Instagram videos, but there is a long-ass breakdown of all the testimony and they better be happy I'm not on that jury. The cops keep accusing him of lying about a lot of things that seem to be close enough to true that I don't know how you can say that he intentionally lied. The money did come back short of what they counted on the scene. The person who counted it admitted that he had been accused of stealing from traffic stops. Afroman also calls him and his brother a pdf and his brother was fired from the police force for being a pdf. The cop is adamant that he has no idea why his brother was fired; apparently, they've never discussed it. With that said, he might end up owing the female officer some money. Apparently, they played multiple versions of a song, including a 15-minute slow jam in their entirety, while she was on the stand. He called that woman "Lieutenant Lick 'em Low Lisa" over and over again until she wept on the stand. His response, "she wasn't crying when she ran up in my house with an AR-15," and I can't really argue with that. I can't imagine how traumatic it would be for the cops to kick down your door with semi-automatic rifles and ransack your home for a crime that you did not commit. It would be much more traumatizing than having a goofy song made about me, I'll tell you that. 2
Cobra Commander Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Ohio recording trials turns out to be a great move here 1 1
Cobra Commander Posted March 18 Posted March 18 a million views in 12 days likely means you'll hear part of this song until you're sick of it but it's pretty good and if rock still existed, it would be a rock radio hit
