zendragon Posted July 20, 2025 Posted July 20, 2025 I take it Curt has a new favorite wrestler? (stop rewind it back, Drew got the kicks that make the thigh go SLAP!)
zendragon Posted July 20, 2025 Posted July 20, 2025 (edited) Cause of the dude getting kicked! Edited July 20, 2025 by zendragon 1
Curt McGirt Posted July 20, 2025 Posted July 20, 2025 OH FUCK!!! YES!!! I didn't know who that was, it couldn't be Heyman though the coat was old him, it vaguely looks like Buh Buh Dudley (fuck you Bully) but he's busy being an asshole elsewhere. DIE JELLY ROLL DIE!!! 3
Curt McGirt Posted July 20, 2025 Posted July 20, 2025 I finally figured it out from the music hint and the face tats. He's lost some weight too. An addict who won't quit talking about that shit being involved with pro wrestling is really amusing. I'm envisioning him handing out pamplets to pilled up people. Just think about if he was around when ECW was going. 1
odessasteps Posted July 23, 2025 Posted July 23, 2025 Just heard Rick Ashley on the radio, presumably unironically.
Cobra Commander Posted July 24, 2025 Posted July 24, 2025 With all the “stop the presses” sort of breaking news going on in the wrestling realm, life rolls on at the listener-supported station I listen to in the car which announced Chappell Roan concerts being held in the area and gave the announcement coverage like it was big time breaking news. Which it kinda was for their station. Because there’s sort of a “other tours are skipping KC but this one is here” thing going on
Cobra Commander Posted July 25, 2025 Posted July 25, 2025 every once and awhile you'll read Facebook comments like somebody deciding to listen to some Chappell Roan in response to a concert announcement and noting her upbeat 80s sound.. so music is simultaneously more accessible than ever, and also it's really Balkanized.. around here, it feels like the most popular KCMO radio stations are the ones that people have been listening to for 30 years in a row, and the most popular stations are classic hits stations 1

odessasteps Posted August 11, 2025 Posted August 11, 2025 Never knew this story before. This guy ( or his manager) in Canada got a hold of Jon Paul Young’s demo for the song and released it in Canada before ayoung’s version. So, they apparently cost each spots on the pop chart, since young’s version did worse in Canada than most other countries. This was in 78, not the rerelease around the time it was in strictly ballroom. Maybe this should go in the cover thread. 1
odessasteps Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 The peak of Austrian music in the last 300 years?
Zimbra Posted August 18, 2025 Posted August 18, 2025 I'll be the one to say it: Trent Reznor has awful taste in apples. 1

odessasteps Posted August 23, 2025 Posted August 23, 2025 YouTube gave me a 1970s playlist today that included both Rock Me Baby AND Rock the Boat Baby. Yes, they really are two different songs.
odessasteps Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 Lunchtime 80s station listening update: a deep cut as they just played Putting on the Ritz by Taco. Luckily on radio, you can’t see the blackface in the original music video. wow. The Remix is now almost a decade old.
Zimbra Posted August 26, 2025 Posted August 26, 2025 Solidarity today to everyone who is dating a Taylor Swift fan and hasn't proposed. You are about to Go Through It. 3

Except, you don't actually know these people.
Curt McGirt Posted August 27, 2025 Posted August 27, 2025 Unfortunately something tragic has happened in the lives of our blessed couple: https://thehardtimes.net/culture/travis-kelce-dies-after-taylor-swift-leaves-him-in-sweltering-hot-private-jet/

Inspired my old band to do a sludge cover. 1
odessasteps Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 TIL the woman in ABC’s Poison Aroow video is reality tv maven Lisa vanderpump. 1
Cobra Commander Posted September 20, 2025 Posted September 20, 2025 great "one of these things is not like the others" sentences from the description of a 1975 Midnight Special episode posted on YouTube tonight "Hosted by Helen Reddy with special guest appearances by Neil Sedaka, Jessi Colter, Janis Ian, Kraftwerk, and Wolfman Jack" pretty confident that we didn't get Kraftwerk and Waylon working together 1
