I finally figured it out from the music hint and the face tats. He's lost some weight too.

An addict who won't quit talking about that shit being involved with pro wrestling is really amusing. I'm envisioning him handing out pamplets to pilled up people. Just think about if he was around when ECW was going.

With all the “stop the presses” sort of breaking news going on in the wrestling realm, life rolls on at the listener-supported station I listen to in the car which announced Chappell Roan concerts being held in the area and gave the announcement coverage like it was big time breaking news. Which it kinda was for their station. Because there’s sort of a “other tours are skipping KC but this one is here” thing going on

every once and awhile you'll read Facebook comments like somebody deciding to listen to some Chappell Roan in response to a concert announcement and noting her upbeat 80s sound.. so music is simultaneously more accessible than ever, and also it's really Balkanized.. around here, it feels like the most popular KCMO radio stations are the ones that people have been listening to for 30 years in a row, and the most popular stations are classic hits stations

Never knew this story before. This guy ( or his manager) in Canada got a hold of Jon Paul Young’s demo for the song and released it in Canada before ayoung’s version. So, they apparently cost each spots on the pop chart, since young’s version did worse in Canada than most other countries. This was in 78, not the rerelease around the time it was in strictly ballroom.

Maybe this should go in the cover thread.

I'll be the one to say it: Trent Reznor has awful taste in apples.

And no one one earth needs that much citrus.  But, it's good to see they're getting enough dietary fiber at their age.

YouTube gave me a 1970s playlist today that included both Rock Me Baby AND Rock the Boat Baby. Yes, they really are two different songs.

Lunchtime 80s station listening update: a deep cut as they just played Putting on the Ritz by Taco. Luckily on radio, you can’t see the blackface in the original music video.

wow. The Remix is now almost a decade old.

Solidarity today to everyone who is dating a Taylor Swift fan and hasn't proposed.  You are about to Go Through It.

Yeah, this is up there with going to someone else's wedding for one partner or the other looking over and thinking, "this will never be us."  Except, you don't actually know these people.

Slowing the 45 of this down to 33 rpm works surprisingly well. Inspired my old band to do a sludge cover.

great "one of these things is not like the others" sentences from the description of a 1975 Midnight Special episode posted on YouTube tonight

"Hosted by Helen Reddy with special guest appearances by Neil Sedaka, Jessi Colter, Janis Ian, Kraftwerk, and Wolfman Jack"

pretty confident that we didn't get Kraftwerk and Waylon working together
