After not spending a dime on VC all season, they got my money for the pack with the evo cards. Didn't get anything blowaway as far as high-stat cards save Diamond IYO from the MitB packs, purple Eddy G from Legends 2, N64 AJ and Asuka, and Wolfpac Wyatt from Punches&Promos. So in other words, based on pure $-to-VC I got a good deal, but if they were hoping I'd turn fulll whale they are wrong.

Wait, is the Steiner event the birthday event? I did that with Stacks not even realizing it was Silver versus Diamond. A few close calls but I actually had fun with that one.

It's mainly multi-person matches that piss me off. Like I've barely touched World Tour because of the amount of multi-person matches like tags, etc. The AI is either just too frustratingly dumb (tag) or too frustratingly annoying (ladder matches, three-ways, four-ways, etc). I much, much prefer the Weekly Towers. That's also because I don't have, like, ANY of the required cards for these events.

I'm still waiting on some creators to make alt outfits for Bull Nakano, I'm not thrilled with her base attire. It's the classic WWF look, but I don't care for it in this game. Looks extremely basic. I also wish there were more AJW creations, but, alas...

It's kind of bonkers how that fucking MitB for Naomi took me at least a dozen tries over the course of the month, and then doing the whole rest of the SotM series for her took a half hour total this afternoon.  We all bitch every year about non-elimination clusterfuck matches and they never get any better.

Looks like they greatly reduced the prices in Card Market, as greens are down to 6500 MFP/5k VC.

Not a fan of making this month's Numbers Game entirely based on Superstars 3 cards that only dropped Friday. I pulled Jordynne from the Smash and Stash but since they don't offer Superstar packs for sale anymore and the weekly login bonus is still stuck on Superstar 1, this may be difficult.

What the fuck is going on with the new Faction quartets? "Facepaint Frenzy" with no painted chars, a second "Land of the Giants" crew with Lexis King? Surely these were misnamed or something?

If I can beat that "beat a Bayley who starts with 3 finishers" Summerslam-card match with the Sol I pulled from the Smash and Stash event, I will only need 3 more tokens to get the Je'Von for the diamond Lash

Those tag ladder match live events weren't too hard for me. Just gotta switch between characters and let the AI climb the ladder while you play defense. The Tatum and Fallon one had a fun finish for me, Fallon was getting the briefcase and Lynch came into the ring and I threw a chair at her which knocked her down and allowed Fallon to pull the briefcase down.

Also new locker code: JOINTHEFUN25 gets you Emerald Elite Rock card (and persona if you didn't get it before), Roman 24 (aka sweatsuit and manbun Roman), and Dom with the mask, I want to say these were either part of one of the pre-orders or an early code. It also gets you a basic Superstar Super Pack II pack which got me nothing I didn't have except. So I got some extra MFP for it.

Looking at this week's login bonuses and weekly tower, I'm guessing that 2k have realized that they've been way too stingy with freebies this year and driven off the people who will never be whales but would keep playing and drop $20 every couple months. Raising the price of new stuff to US $9 for a deluxe pack in May, while also reducing the number of freebies from live events, has really demoralized the player base. 

 

Of course, they will learn nothing from this, but rather keep hiking prices til it hurts their bottom line and then shower us with gifts again.

Retromania's update will have, in addition to the 6 previously known chars (Savage, Magnum, the Rock and Rolls and Demo Ax and Smash) some new stages and a "book a card, then play it" mode like the old WWE games' PPV modes. It'll be $10, which is more than I paid for the base game, but shit I'm just impressed that it's still being supported with new content.

Every card pack I've purchased in the last week and half in 2k25 has had this damn Jacy Jane card in it at least once it's ridiculous. It's making me dislike her when I'm watching wrestling. 🤣

I haven't even bought a pack with MFP since blowing $40 on the giga pack last month. Nothing on the Heatwave block excited me, and I kind of want to hold onto my war chest to get Numbers Game 3 stuff for that Bret if I don't get the cards from free packs. 

I have evolved all the cards from the big box except Kross, who just isn't that interesting when I have a male diamond striker (Jacob) already. I'm pretty annoyed, meanwhile, that the big event you needed the Je'Von and Sol cards from the box for is just two Royal Rumbles. And I keep throwing myself at that "gold Dom vs diamond Dragon Lee" backstage brawl but I don't think it's gonna work out for me.

 

Island Chapter 4 dropped yesterday. I have still not managed to beat the 6-way match to finish Zero's Ch2 quests, so i will probably never see it unless I either win the lottery or create another character just to gather VC in Ch1 to upgrade my main. 

I've had decent success with the Dom events (I think the Rey event took me two attempts, Dragon Lee was one and the 2 on 1 match was one) but I go with the "stick and move and use plundah" method in those.

Speaking of Dom events, I finished off the last one (casket match vs Demon Balor). Balor is a 98 Pink Diamond with some nasty badges. Also he starts with 3 finishers and you don't get reversal prompts.

Only took me one attempt but the match length was almost 27 minutes. I hit Balor with a ton of shovel shots and Canadian destroyers on the outside so a typical WWE match.

September Faction update notes:

Looks like 2 women's boss teams and one men's were added. The naming and theme continues to be way less thought out than last year, though at least I'm pretty sure everyone in the Spinebusters actually uses one unlike last month's Facepaint Frenzy

They don't seem to have added the new Numbers Game cards in the Oddities tab, nor an indication of who the set unlocks. You need Sinister Boogeyman (79), Mania Gunther (80), Legends 2 Muta (81), Mitb Jaida Parker (82), Legends 2 Mr. Perfect (83], MitB Akira Tozawa (84), Legends 2 Yokozuna (85) and Legends 2 Eddy Guerrero (86.) By sheer luck, I only need Yoko and the 2 MitB cards, and I'm not buying til I clear out the Rumbles.

Stephanie Vaquer is the Star of the Month and you need her Superstars S3 card to do the first quest. 

Today, they added a mission for each tier of Token Market that pays out in enough tokens to buy a card from that tier: you need Emerald Wes Lee, Sapphire Kairi Sane, Ruby Natalya, Amethyst Lexis King and Diamond Ivy Nile. 6 weeks to get them all; it looks like they're all basic matches with Diamond opponents and Wes v JD McDonagh was easy enough. Saturday's free tokens will put me over the line to get Lexis, but I don't think I will be able to score 870 more (720 for the 6 remaining purples plus 150 for Ivy) in time.

EDITED TO ADD: they fixed the Numbers Game; the reward for getting all 8 is a Pink Diamond 95 B-Fab. When they updated it to add the new Oddities, the 2 I earned before realizing it was broken were in my inventory but I didn't get the 2 cards credited to my next completion reward.

I completely missed this on Wed, but Spike Chunsoft just released another Takayama support pack for FPW. It's $6.99.

Grande Americano dropped today. Some notes:

-his mask is miscolored, with blue wings instead of red

-his stats are higher than Gable (OVR 85 vs Gable's 80), and he's classed as a Flyer instead of a Technician. 

-he has Gable's DDT signature and ankle lock finisher, but his other key moves are different (the diving headbutt becomes a finisher, Chaos Theory is replaced with running and springboard headbutts, and he has a couple new aerial signatures)

-Faction card is OVR 90, no break-in mission added so far

-his song is just called "El Grande." I was hoping for a Spanish translation of "The Stars And Stripes Forever"

2k25 will be joining the PS+ Catalog next week, a month after it hit GamePass (hopefully we get another locker code.) Retromania dev is posting to Bluesky hyping up that their DLC is still out Saturday (surely that's just for Steam?)

Wild that we're getting new stuff for Fire Pro, Retromania and 2k all in under two weeks (now would be a good time for Fight Forever to drop a shocking new pack with Ospreay and Mercedes.) Boy do I hope we're getting Three Six Mafia with Henry and not "It's sexual, baby"

They delivered on schedule, making me think they had it ready when they announced it and held it for Retro World Expo so they could do the special launch event there with Demolition. Even had the update come out on PSN on Saturday morning, first time I've ever seen that.

Man, fuck that Henry vs Orton match.

Started a new Superstar career with D'Lo after not getting nearly as far with Lola this year as I did in the two prior years (as Axiom in 23 and Roxanne in 24.) I sent Trick packing in a Loser Leaves Town after a Lodown thru a table (sadly, he can't do it thru the announce table), so I hope he's happy in TNA. Then I had a really, really stupid thought:

What happens if I Loser Leaves the entire roster? I probably don't have the attention span to actually do it, but it's a fun idea.

I got lucky with countering a RKO in the Henry vs. Orton match and then I used the exploit where your opponent almost always doesn't counter an finisher when getting back in the ring to win that one. 

Somehow the Henry vs. Taker casket match was easier for me than the Dom/Finn one and the Chelsea one that's still active.

2K announced The Last Time is Now DLC pack coming October 16 featuring WM 41 Cena and Retro Cena. Also expected to include Brock Lesnar to the game and R-Truth in Ron Cena gear.

I assume the Farewell Tour will be $10 like last year's Wyatt pack and the Bad Bunny bonus from 23. Any more than that and they're playing with fire. 

They cut prices on individual cards for everything below Pink tier, so the September Numbers Game is a whole lot more achievable without spending VC. 

They're also re-running the Eras event chain to get TNA AJ Styles, with the needed cards in the Market. Unfortunately, to get all of them (Pink Diamond Mutiny Bayley, Diamond Elite Trish and Jimmy, and Amethyst Un-dashing Cody) is 210,000 VC ($70, the same price as the game, at the base exchange rate of $5 for 15k) or even more in FP so I still ain't biting. More than half of that is the Bayley card at 110k/$36.66; if I pulled that from a pack I might be tempted to buy the Trish and start the chain.
