Speaking of coaches - Rick Barnes has tested positive

Tennessee's games on Wed and Friday as part of the Volunteer Classic have been cancelled

They are still hoping to play in the Jimmy V Classic next week

Mason was supposed to open their season today against Northeastern but Northeastern has postponed all sports until Mid-Dec.

So the tournament Mason's in had to scramble and they are now playing D2 Queens NC (I actually thought it was Quinnipiac at first since ESPN abbreviates it as QUN)

Division II Fort Hays State beat Kansas State to become the first non-D1 school to win on the road against a "major" conference school in 20 years.

Oh and they did it with out their head coach and one assistant who were out due to COVID

Bruce Weber might wanna just opt out of the season

Fort Hays' previous start to the season:

  • Loss 80-78 vs Washburn
  • Loss 68-66 vs Emporia State
  • Loss 84-80 at Nebraska-Kearney

It's also Fort Hays' first win over K-State since 1938.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi over Texas Tech in 2000 was the last time a non-D1 school beat a Power Six team in case anyone was curious.

No update on Johnson, which sounds... disconcerting, to say the least.

In postseason news, the NCAA is set to run the entire womens' tournament on one site, most likely San Antonio since they were already set to host the Final Four in 2021.  UTSA and Incarnate Word would be the main hosts, which makes me wonder if they might try hosting simultaneous games at the Alamodome... you'd think they could pull off 4 games at once provided they have a unique horn system for each game.

USA Today is reporting that he's in a medically-induced coma and has been transported to Gainesville.

Gonzaga is playing Northwestern State on consecutive nights. Has this happened anytime since the invention of TV?

In the game notes it says

Quote

The last time Gonzaga hosted the same opponent in back-to-back days in non-conference games was a pair of victories over Eastern Montana on Dec. 10 and 11, 1965.

Oh and here is the kicker - Northwestern St is actually playing THREE consecutive days as they play Washington St tomorrow (Wed)

So miffed that everyone will see Bradley as 0-2 against Top 25 programs (Xavier and now Mizzou) when both games were 1-point losses on the road that went down to the buzzer. Feh.

Chicago State has opted out for the remainder of the season. HC Lance Irvin had already staooed away for health reasons and now the rest of the team has followed suit.

EDIT: The timing of them immediately canceling the season after pocketing all of their buy-game checks has not been lost on people.
