I will have to bum my sis's PS4 for a bit to spend hours and hours playing Super Dodge Ball.

This game is already out in Japan as Kunio-kun: The World Classics Collection. Awesome to see it coming state-side now.

It's going to be M, they couldn't even not have naked ladies in the demo

Yeah, CDPR's interviews in the Polish media are pretty blatant with the whole "We're making a game geared towards adults," vibe.  Between the casual drug-use, graphic nudity, and sexual content, it's going to be a solid Mature Only game for sure.

After re-reading Mona Lisa Overdrive while on night duty, it has dawned on me just how stupid the supposed Gender Neutrality character creation controversy surrounding Cyberpunk 2077 really is.

William Gibson's best known Mary Sue, Molly Millions, sees herself more as a weapon than a woman thanks to the cybernetic augmentations that she feels define her more than her personality or gender.  Conversely, Gibson's character, Johnny Mnemonic, engages almost ritualistically in casual sex with expensive escorts as an affirmation of his masculinity and to remind him that he is a heterosexual male and not a glorified safety deposit box.

In the Sprawl, it is difficult to separate who you are from what you do.

Traditional assignments of biological gender assignment being moot in the wake of extensive body modification has been a staple of Cyberpunk since the beginning, so it's no new concept nor is it really an affirmation of today's gender politics.  The whole point of Cyberpunk is that everything is treated either as a commodity, a tool, or an obstacle:   especially people.

We are nothing but objects.

I think it's perfectly fine if the LGBTQ-Nonbinary community applauds the character creation set-up and gender politics of the game, because I think it's important for RPGs to take this into consideration if they want to offer the most immersive experience possible for the players.  Most RPG folks enjoy imprinting a little of themselves onto their character / avatar and you can't do that if you can't create a virtual construct that looks a little like you or, better yet, behaves a little like you.

Part of the reason that Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and Saint's Row are / were such endearing franchises is because they did not shy away from creating protagonists that were able to engage in same-sex or heterosexual relationships (albeit trashy ones in the beloved SR titles), so players could pilot their toons through romance options that best reflected their actual preferences..

However, I think everyone should remember the caveat that in this sort of dystopian future, you aren't really a man or a woman; you are either an asset or liability to the mega-corporations that run everything and that there is no gender in cyberspace.  Only data reigns supreme..

I'm sure it's pretty obvious that I'm really looking forward to playing this game.  I'm pre-ordering it paycheck after this one coming up since it's mortgage time again.

CAVEAT:  Johnny Mnemonic isn't a character in the Sprawl trilogy.  He's got his own story in the compilation, Burning Chrome.  I just used him as an example of an antithesis to Molly Millions.

The Phantasy Star Online 2 Closed Beta is a wrap.

It's a bit chibi for my liking, but it may migrate more squeakers from D2 and that could be a good thing.

PSO 1 was such an important part of my life 20 years ago that I can't not be excited for this on PC, and yet I know that I am a different enough person now that I'm not going to play for more than a weekend.

I am and old SEGA guy and PS, Skies of Arcadia, and Shining Force were important parts of my RPG life for a long time.

I'd be lying if I said I weren't a little excited to hear all of the good and positive news following the PSO2 Closed Beta, but I feel like part of me has outgrown the chibi RPG / MMO stuff of the past, and this is from the guy that was a proud Mythril Musketeer for the Republic of Bastok for a long time.

I'm still not good about what they did to my girl, Lion.

GO FOR THE EYES, BOO~!

I put in my pre-order for Cyberpunk 2077 yesterday at Gamestop.  I had to reserve the Standard Edition because the Deluxe Edition had already been booked out for the time being.  I am on a wait list and will get first crack if the DE reservation queue is expanded.

Vampire:  Bloodlines 2 still doesn't have a solid release date according to their database.

Yeah, I am ashamed to admit that I know all about the affinity between the Githyanki and Red Dragons and the Githyanki war with the Mind Flayers.

As much as I am stoked for that, I hope it doesn't mean that part of the game takes place in the Astral Realm because the new planar mechanics for D&D Next kinda suck.  That's why I never bothered suffering through the latest edition.

Well, that and they all but fucking shafted Eberron.  They're just now putting out an Eberron rule book for the latest edition.

Advertising no cloud saves and that if multiple people on one Switch  (AKA family in one house) play they are stuck on a single island is Very Nintendo, but the game itself looking solid is also Very Nintendo.

They are what they are.

And the special edition Switch is practically a collector's edition now since the Corona Virus production problems.

March 20th is gonna be a bloodbath on so many levels. Hell is gonna come from both sides of the coin.

One of these days, Nintendo's insistence on being 8 years behind everyone else and creating artificial shortages (although this time it's not totally their fault) is going to cause a serious reckoning.

Animal Crossing release.  It was supposed to get a Special Edition Switch Console, but that's borked.  The game itself is also lacking features present in pretty much all current games (like cloud save/backup) and linking Islands to console MAC's instead of account.  It's... not going to be pretty overall.

Release date for the Animal Crossing/Doom crossover game we've all been demanding for years now.

Edit: Apparently, Animal Crossing and Doom Eternal are two different games.  Hmmm.... My island is going to be a lot less blood-soaked than I originally thought.  It does appear that both games are going to release on the 20th, though.
