Death From Above
I am about two thirds in and I find it funny the first 20 minutes were paced exactly like all the other NOAH matches that go half as long. Kenoh's haircut looks like a lawnmower accident. I hate it. Match is fine so far. Bret/Shawn and Reed/Flair still very safe on the most boring 60 minute match all time rankings list which is all I can ask of NOAH in 2020. There's some neat legwork that manages to fill time while actually telling a story. I have to assume the Japanese ordinance where they asked people not to yell at the sumo tournament because shouting helps spread germs "please scream inside your hearts" was a wider public order because absolutely no one at NOAH shows from 2020 will yell. It's very odd but it bothered me less at the sumo somehow,, I guess because I was engrossed in actual beefy wrestling competition. Somehow it feels weirder at pro wrestling. The kick Kenoh lands at 55:33 of the video made me say "Jesus fuck" out loud. That cannot be healthy, man. But it made for a good nearfall. This kicks off the real high action phase where next few minutes are actually a really, really good nearfall sequence that has the crowd thinking this might not be the draw they've suspected the last 15 minutes. It runs out of steam in a few minutes because both guys are just done, but it's a great few minutes. That double stomp off the top to the floor was actually gross. God bless pro wrestlers, they are crazy. I wish they'd come back to the legwork on Kenoh in the back half of the match, because they could do some cool sutff there, but this is NOAH and you're not going to remember legwork in a company that deified Jun Akiyama. I've got nothing against Jun, he's had a ton of classics, but he's also a guy who's idea of selling is "laying more or less still while adjusting his trunks very obviously". You don't learn looking up to that and be like "yeah let's sell the leg in minute 52". It does result in matches like this where the first and second half of a match this long have nothing to do with one another really. There's some good work in the back half but the crowd doesn't really expect anything after the rolling dragon suplex gets 2 with roughly 10 minutes to go. Everything after that is an exhibition to most of them. Overall I can't fault the effort, and there's some very good sequences. I don't think sixty minute matches really work very well with how modern wrestling is so impact move based, but I can imagine a thousand times worse than this. I haven't really liked most of the 2020 NOAH I've watched, but this was better than anything else I've seen for sure.

Yeah, but instead of a unified title, they elevated the red belt to near world title. Which is fun.

Yuki Kamifuku is still in need of a sammich. ===================== Yuki Miyazaki is so good for a big mean lady. Kakeru Sekiguchi is now my second favorite ActWres girl'Z wrestler. Eivion
Two title matches. One is a 3-way battle for the Future Title (rookie belt) where you have to defeat two opponents in succession to win. The other is a standard triple threat for the High Speed Title. Fun fact, two of the people in latter match can still qualify for the Future belt because they are so damn young despite having 5 (Kid) & 7 (AZM) years in wrestling. DEAN
This is almost stiff for TJPW. ====================== Hey! It's my second favorite Actwres girl'Z wrestler, Kakeru Sekiguchi! She wrestling the gal who tagged with Miyuki Takase and Yuu against the three indie gals, one of whom wrestled for the Japanese porno company or something. CAKE-A-ROOO! DEAN
Abadon is still freaky! Poor Su Yung.... ============================= This is from 9 months ago but I don't want to break up the serious discussion in the WRESTLING NOT FROM NOW post, so I's muscling this in here. Yuki Takase! That indie gal Itsuki Aoki! Two Stardom people! =============================== This is from the same show. Takumi Iroha and Kaho Kobayashi- who I hadn't seen since she lost the hair match in Mexico- takes on HEY! Remember Kagetsu?
Jiji
That apron arm slam thing (what is that called?!) was DOPE. She's still incredibly green though and figuring things out but there is clear and obvious potential for both a great character and a good wrestler. Like look at her footwork after she hits a clothesline... Looks like she could blow her knee out. I don't know what AEW does with their women's division but I think relegating them to Dark aside from the few they have that can go and maybe another YouTube show is probably for the best because if you go from a Kenny Omega match to an average AEW women's match it's a terrible juxtaposition. They clearly need more opportunities but I think throwing them on the main show will only highlight the disparity in talent. It's a conundrum but I feel like the people attacking Stevens and listing off dozens of female wrestlers are coming from the right place, but of the women mentioned that I'm familiar with... they're nowhere near ready. It sucks but it's where we're at.

They need an over-arching style, like how WWE changed their culture when Fit Finlay started training the divas. It's like like in the 80s, I was watching all the American women's wrestlers who would change their style to main event in Japan instead doing a basic match in the states. These indie gals are wrestling the same indie style and it shows when compared to the guys who know how to wrestle on a big stage.

Well, glad to see it's not just me. I'm of the belief that she'd be the perfect jump scare where you start it off with her face not visible in the shadows as she's approaching. Then right when she gets close the jump scare happens. I feel like that's happened in a video game or movie somewhere but hell if I know where. Death From Above
I like that she went for a different finish than that kind of awkward Shining Hurricanrana thing. This is honestly easier to execute and still works. Honestly I don't think Abadon needs to sell for jobbers at all right now. Just flat out early-days-Undertaker the fuck out of people.
