The Hall of Fame Ceremony is that night thus why the early start.

Any info on these two since I'm pretty sure I have not seen either one Miranda Granger vs. Hannah Goldy

I saw Hannah Goldy on the first week of this year's Contender Series. She looked good in her fight even though she didn't actually win a contract then. I'm happy they still gave her a shot. I can see Loughnane not getting a deal because he already had his crack in the UFC. However, finish or no finish in that one fight, she looked more UFC ready than a bunch of women who have had multiple UFC fights. De Castro looked decent in his fight, but it was one of those big guy, first person who lands a solid blow picks up a quick TKO win heavyweight fights you can see on any regional MMA card. Of course, he had a better chance of finishing and getting a contract than Goldy. IMO Goldy has a WAY better shot at succeeding in the UFC than De Castro.

If the UFC was a complete work then Convington will destroy Lawler.  There is absolutely no way that Dana wants to derail this phony Trump character that Colby is portraying.    Which is why most people hope that Robbie kills him.  Well that and that Robbie Lawler is awesome

I dunno about that. It's not like Colby is extremely popular. I don't think Dana minds it all that much, but it's not something they're going to pump up. He has been doing this bit for awhile now and most of it he has spent on the shelf not fighting or getting into it with folks he isn't fighting. It's not productive for him, and it's not that profitable (if it is at all) for the UFC. They're not going to force him to drop it, but they didn't do it to Jacob Volkmann either when he was calling out Obama either as just some dude on the roster several years ago (old Volkmann did get a visit though for his troubles fwiw). If you want to make some weird political statement or commentary, have at it as long it doesn't affect the bottom line or get the UFC into any real heat.

Maybe I am wrong remembering right but when Usman beat Woodley the post fight was almost all about Covington making an ass out of himself with his character.  So Dana clearly sees something in it.  Just because he isn't popular doesn't mean they will push it.

To me the Volkmann was different because he just him calling out Obama over and over and that was it.  Colby literally looks and sounds like every Stephen Colbert stereotype of a Trump supporter right now

I think you mean it doesn't mean they won't push it?

Anyway:

1. He was/is the number 1 contender and the whole purpose is to do a hard sale for the next opponent. Sometimes, they do that for people who ultimately don't even get the next title shot. Usually, most of the guys or girls don't have anything to play off. So yeah, they might say something about Colby because it's not like he picked up a bunch of great wins inside the cage.

2. He has been in the UFC for awhile. If Dana wanted him to be all over UFC, Colby would have been fighting 2 or 3 times since he fought RdA in Chicago last year. Plus, they stripped him of the interim title for getting that dental surgery or w/e where he wouldn't  have been healthy enough in time to challenge for the belt late last year. If Dana saw something in him, they wouldn't have done that or risk him getting KO'd by Robbie Lawler. They also love Lawler as you can tell because they made him the first designated hitman for Askren. Also, Colby would've been on a card in primetime for maximum eyeballs instead of the middle of the afternoon.

I'm pretty sure one stereotype birthed the other. If Colby was doing this pre-2016 like Jacob, that's EXACTLY what he would have been doing.

The Trump sons will attend this to support Colby.

Speaking of people who need their asses kicked early and often...

Here's hoping Ruthless gets it done, by KO preferably.

A nice liver kick and Colby flopping around like a fish would be just perfect.

How has Robbie dealt with pressure wrestlers in the past? I could see this going the same way the RDA fight went where it's a slow grind of a fading legend. Lawler has a better skillset than RDA to deal with it but I'm not convinced we have to wait until Usman for Colby to get smashed. I hope I'm wrong.

I really enjoy the dopey lookin' BJJ specialists like Meerschaert and Ryan Hall. Slick, patient stuff.

Nasrat Haqparast... wow, that was a really good fight but what a finish and I'm on that hype train.

I'm just sick to my stomach, Robbie looked 47 instead of 37. Oh well, Usman should crush Colby like the foul insect that he is.

Usman will dad dick Colby. No way is Colby able to pressure and muscle Usman like he's done the old men strikers he's beaten the past two fights. It'll be a long 25 minutes for Covington and I look forward to it.
