MLW Deserves Its Own Thread

Recommended Posts

This best thing this week is a four way between Matt Cross, Myron Reed, Tajiri and HEy! It's Bandido!  Four ways are worse than Triple Threat matches, especially if a belt is on the line,  So stupid.  Ho Ho Lun and KC Navarro have a we wisp of a match.  The strange and enigmatic Saito Brothers try to collect on a bounty on Davey Richards head by oddly attacking him.  It's great!  Alex Cain and Calvin Tankman is overbooked and highly disappointing.

Yeah, the overbooking of Kane vs. Tankman made me sad.  A hoss battle like that should be pretty hard to screw up, but somehow Court Bauer succeeded.  Just let them kill each other for fuck's sake.

Ho Ho Lun vs. KC Navarro was decent while it lasted.

Oh man!  Hammerstone vs Davey Richards is fucking balls out- especially postmatch.  Hammerstone is the best wrestler in MLW?  Richards makes the match with a myriad of offense and Hammerstone sells really well.  BRAVO, MLW!  The NZO/KC Navarro match is weirdly good.  They continue to book away all the interest I have in Tankman vs Kane by making this a 3 way.  ACH versus either of these guys would fucking rule.  Let's ruin it by making it a TRIPLE THREAT MATCH!  But yeah, Hammerstone/Richards is worth watching.

Man, with MLW, Impact and now New Japan all on Thursday,  it's like the biggest night of wrestling suddenly- what with a hour more than Friday Smackdown into Rampage.  Plus BTI!  So much wrestling.  Though I guess sometimes three hours of RAW plus Elevation can sometimes get up to 4 hours.  Man, there is a lot of wrestling on basic cable and YouTube.

The entire pro wrestling week is booked, dudes.  AEW and WWE from Monday to Wednesday, MLW and NJPW on Thursday, and then back to AEW and WWE on Fridays with UWN / CWF on the weekend.  It is a great time to be a fan of the pro wrestling.

Budd Heavy falling off of the barstool brought back memories of Buddy Jack Roberts doing the same thing a long time ago. It worked back then, and it worked now. Timeless like a fat man dancing.

TJ Perkins and Buddy Matthews is better than the epic Josh Alexander/TJ Perkins match from Impact.  Buddy Matthews sells the knee and TJP does truly elaborate leg submissions.  Maybe the best match in MLW?  Maybe.  I'm thinking.... Plus Rok-C's last match before her WWEification against Miranda Gordy.  This is good.  Gordy on the stick is old school.  MLW brings the wrestling this week.,

Definitely felt like the We're Getting Called Up episode of MLW with Matthews jobbing to TJP before going full tilt in AEW with the House of Black and Rok-C heading to WWE and selling Miranda Gordy's assbeating.  I think it's time that Myron Reed gave up the Middleweight strap to TJP.

Madds Krueger blades weird and bumps pretty well for a big fella so Jacob Fatu definitely has something to work with.  The giant table bump is spectacular.  This is fun.  In a match earlier in the show, Gnarles Garvin takes a sweet Black Cat DDT by Gangrel.  MLW!  Sleazy but good sometimes!

This week's episode is really good.  First it's Octagon Jr debuting with Puma King and the waaaaaaaaaay over MicroMan against Gino Medina, Ares and Mini Abismo Negro, and it is very sloppy fun.  Octagon and Puma King are spectacular.  Ares is all freaky.  MicroMan is the best babyface in MLW.  Cash Flo Ken Broadway debuts and he takes Ikuro Kwan's finisher like a total champ.  The main event is pretty awesome.  Slice Boogie and Danny Limelight bump all over the ring for EJ Nduka and  his surprise secret partner

Spoiler

Calvin Tankman

and it is really fun power moves and bearmauling versus highflying and lunatic bumping.  The finish is awesome.

This week's episode is heavy with the wrestling!  TJ Perkins is the best wrestler in MLW and he has a really good match with Myron Reed.  Myron Reed is a good highflyer and Perkins puts really cool submissions between Reed's spectacular highspots.  Richard Holliday is really coming into his own.  His match with Matt Cross is good- with Cross doing his indie highflying and Holliday cutting him off with legit heavyweight offense.  The Von Erichs vs Ricky and Kerry Morton is a hilariously awful wreck but it did give me the idea that if AEW actually does a Trios tournament, Kerry Morton would be a perfect third Ass Boy!  Evil Ricky Morton is awesome so MAKE IT HAPPEN, TK!

No one else from the family must have been in the building because the most shocking part of that is that the Parks went into business for themselves on a Samoan and didn't end up in the hospital themselves.

Oh geez, Court Bauer needs to bring the PARKS back and bring in any unsigned Anoa'i family member do an extended Samoa vs Mexico feud.

Park pretending not to know English is hilarious, that guy's worked in the States forever. Hammerstone should have known enough Spanish to at least yell "VAMOS, PENDEJO" at him, too.

Hey, now we know what it takes to get fired from MLW though: either shoot on somebody or be Teddy Hart.

You forgot to mention JULIUS SMOKES showing up at the end to yell into the mic with a stream of consciousness wildness. "THE VON ERICHS MUST DIE! LET THE GATES OF HELL OPEN UP ON YO MONKEY ASSES! I HATE NORTH CAROLINA! DIE!" Then he says something about when he comes back he's gonna put everyone in a garbage can ?

This week is perfectly fine.  Matt Cross vs TJP is good.  Shazza McKenzie vs Holidead is good.  The five way indie gimmick match is a clusterfuck and a waste of ACH and Puma King.  Juicy Finau looks good because he wrestles it like a glorified battle royal, which is what it was.  Yeesh.

God, that five man.  Everyone has to wrestle down to Juicy Finau's mobility level, but Juicy knows his limits and sticks to big man things.

Holidead is just wrecking chicks in MLW.  I am guessing that the Zeda Zhang thing did not pan out and Court is looking to use the Featherweight tournament to make a new star to lead the women's division.

Where was Slice Boogie during the Hernandez reveal?  Is he hurt?  He can't be off camera and headed to AEW because he just signed a multi-year deal and IWA just put the tag belts on him and Rivera.
