EA pressured Bioware to adopt a more aggressive release schedule and that did not turn out so well.   GTA 5 has the distinction of being the second most profitable entertainment product ever conceived bar none including film franchises.  The first (surprise) is the Disney MCU.

Since it's inception, GTA 5 / GTA Online has earned over $6 Billion with a fucking B worldwide and it still continues to make money for the company.

Take Two needs to shut the fuck up and let Rockstar do their thing.  Every game they make continues to earn a profit long after release, so these titles have a really long lifecycle that Take Two apparently does not appreciate.

I dunno.  I can't imagine GTA6 coming out before Christmas 2021 at the absolute earliest, which puts the interval at 8 plus years.  That seems like plenty of time to make a damn video game, even one as massive as GTA6 will probably be.  My knee jerk (read really incorrect) reaction is they need to put less effort into screwing up GTA5's online and more into making the next game.

Fuck, I’ll go ahead and say I bought a shark card or two around Christmas time, and had no problem doing so. I’ve played that game off and on for 8 years for a 60 dollar price tag. At a certain point I don’t mind tossing money there way for a game I still find fun. And I think the game is still pretty undeniably fun.

If anything, my question is how do you convince people who have put silly amounts of time into GTA Online to start all over on a new game when they have so much stuff already on the GTA 5 servers. Especially after they flopped on Red Dead Online so badly. I have a Nightclub that’s fully upgraded, that between the cost of the club originally and upgrades cost over 8 million in GTA money. That is, by Shark Card money standard, worth 100 dollars in cash. I also have an Arcade (2 million), a Gunrunning Facility (1.8 million), a Air Trafficing setup (1.9 million), a Biker Club with every single side business possible (combined at about 7 mill), a CEO Office with a full sized Vehicle Warehouse and Cargo Storage area (6 mill) as well as a 700,000 dollar Apartment and a Penthouse at the Casino that was 3 mill with its upgrades. That isn’t even going into my cars, were I have a Kreider (2.875), Emery’s (2.75), S80RR (2.6), and at least 8 million dollars worth of other vehicles. Combined I have grinded or spent to over 50 damned million dollars spent in game, and that is over 600 dollars in real life. And any other new GTA would almost assuredly not have anywhere close to the sheer level of game types GTA Online has now.

Basically, Rockstar has made a game that if you are up for the grind of it, is really hard to justify upgrading for with a new game. They turned Grand Theft Auto from a single player sandbox into a fucking MMO with no subscription fee with more to do then any other game I’ve ever seen. Straight up changing and starting fresh isn’t going to be attractive to a lot of the biggest GTA players.

That being said, the number of people who regularly play GTA Online this year is way lower than the total number of people who ever have. Furthermore, GTA4 Online was super active right up until GTAV came out. Two days after GTAV came out (before the online mode was launched) the servers were empty.

There's a free million if you log on by tomorrow.  Then another if you log on the next week.

I got on yesterday for the first time in months just to get that.  Then somebody tried to go after me while I was minding my own business, just driving around in a pink limousine.  He died a bunch.  Then melraz showed up and things got worse for him.  Then his two buddies showed up, and they died a bunch.  Never did get either of is once.  Same old GTA.

Was only on for about 20 minutes, but I didn't see a single damn flying motorcycle the whole time.  It was a nice change.

One thing I want to know.  Who the hell decided what this game needed was a remote control tank?

This game is pretty boring now. Last week was actually fun, since Royal Rumble was doubled up. But now, the only fun things I end up doing are play golf with the other three in our golf club, do "on-call" heists for a laugh with a friend of mine and do two of the three casino heists (Those two being Big Con and Sneaky. Both are ridiculously easy and I end up getting the full take 99% of the time.).

At least the F1 races are coming out in the next week or two. My guess is that they'll be around during the usual Valentine's Day BS. Even then, they'll get old, since Rockstar refuses to change racing to prevent dipshits from either going backwards or blocking the track.

Hey, at least I have The Show.

I’ve spent most of the last week playing Deadline, as I fucking love that mode and have some skill in it, and it was double cash and rp. Also have been playing with some non regular GTA players with low levels, trying to make them some money.

I also won the Oppresor off the wheel, but have only been using it for map navigation, Makes getting around a lot easier.

On one hand, you don't rush greatness.  RDR and GTA both have always had delays but the finish product was always worth it.

At the same time, the XBOX One and PS4 era is going to be the first console generation without its own GTA game, which is really ridiculous to me.  It blows my mind that GTA 5 came out six and a half years ago.

For those interested, 2 things going in GTA this week:

New Podium Car is the Progen PR4, Which is basically a Formula 1 Car, the first part of the new Open Wheel Race series. The car can not be purchased this week,  but will cost 3.5 million if you don’t get it on the Podium. I won today, and I was fucking happy.

Also, 2x return on Special Cargo, which made me a smooth 2 mill. Good week for GTA.

So, on the second spin, I won the car. Boss.

I've already been used to it though. If any of you PS4 chicos want a 13 race playlist to test the new cars (there is a second one out next week for the real update), give me a buzz.

The tracks are pretty good, plus you get to test out the new physics and damage the cars take. For example, pitting is necessary (as is choosing specific tires) as I won a few races after the front of the pack blew a few tires, while I made a well-timed pit stop, boosted and won.

I got on Online for the first time in ages the other night, and Jeezis, was I completely lost. I'd forgotten where the sniper rifle was on the weapon wheel. I think the game's passed me by.

If you ever do wanna give it a shot again, hit me up. I’ve been playing enough that I’ve leveled up 50 times in the last 6 months, so I can be a pretty good guide.

They developed RDR2 for current gen so I guess that counts.  I'd rather see GTA6 come out for Series X so I can have something to play other than The Ascent on it.

I don't think I'll be able to wait for the Series X versions of Cyberpunk 2077 or Bloodlines 2, so I'll get them for XB1.

I guess.  But look at previous generations.  PS2/Xbox got 3 games (3, VC, and SA) and also ports of the two PSP games, PS3/XB360 got 2 games (4 & 5) plus the two excellent expansions for 4, and this latest gen got nothing but a port of GTA5.  They cancelled the planned storyline DLC because online was more profitable.  It's just a crazy drop in output for me but it's easy to see that they shifted all development to their online cash cow.

BTW, I've been visiting LS quite a bit the last few weeks in quarantine.   Yesterday I saw a a club member I'd never seen before.

Does anyone know who Straight Baked is?

Club or Crew?

Because no one shows up in the Crew with that name

Of course Fresh is still in the DVDVR crew too (though he flies IGN colors now)

EDIT - Wait hold on - I forgot the names might not match. Hold on.
