Which makes it double funny, and kind of "well, he has a point" for him to say hanging people doesn't belong in wrestling, not only did he already bring this up in a Vice interview but he literally was almost decapitated doing a spot with a noose...

Based on some of the Observers I read pre Renegade when he was Rio, Lord of the Jungle, it seemed like whoever was behind him (maybe one of the guys who use to promote him in the indies and/or broke him into the business) probably sold WCW a bill of goods. It's basically the same thing as a Rick Bogner. Both of them had worked in Japan and had decent looks if you never saw their actual ring work. Then when they brought him in under the belief of "I mean how hard could it be to imitate or copy _______", they fucked around and found out. Just because you worked in Japan doesn't mean you're good. That push lasted a few months though, and he got to go over guys he should have never went over. Then, they proceeded to bury the fuck out of him. It's weird cause you can blame him a little for being the shits in the ring but he should have never been hired in the first place. This is the same company that about a year later would hire Loch Ness. And even before that, they hired Ron Reis whose only claim to fame was just being Big John Studd's protege right before BJS passed. People talk about WCW hiring Hogan's friends but WCW had some strange hiring practices for in ring talent overall. He was basically a low level jobber for the next 3 years before they released him. Maybe they plan to elaborate on his struggles coping with that along with his eventual release. 5

It’s just awesome. as the seasons go on it definitely feels like they’re stretching for controversial content that has to be embellished. They should really do more stuff on Japanese contents, Misawa’s death should have been an episode by now. Kensuke Sasaki killing a rookie is another one.

Curt McGirt Posted June 24 Posted June 24 I'm not sure why I didn't remember it, maybe I just didn't even watch it because I didn't think I could get through it, but the Eddie Graham and family Dark Side was on last night and man that has to be one of the roughest ones. You think "well, it's not quite Von Erichs bad" and then they drop the hammer with saying it was actually five generations that committed suicide. It also really made me think about Kevin Sullivan and Nancy and you-know-who and how Kevin had kind of been toughened up for something like that to happen -- and also, what Kevin was really like as a person behind the scenes with all we know about him getting loaded on GHB and weird bondage stuff and whatever else. And just because I have to say it, the granddaughter is really cute. Love her nose. She's gotta be my ageoh yeah I better just stop there... (It was also enlightening to find out that the semi-colon she had tattooed is some kind of suicide prevention symbol now, which I wasn't aware of.) 1
