HumanChessgame
Brock goes another month without defending the belt on a ppv. It's not like anyone will notice.

Lawful Metal
So is Braun even going to be medically cleared by Royal Rumble? How did they kill off all his shine? It was Dolph Ziggler wasn’t it? Last time I was interested was when he and Drew brawled into the crowd. They didn’t even follow up on that, did they?

tlk23
From F4WOnline A major angle is expected to be shot tonight that will change one of the main events at the Royal Rumble show. We'll talk about it after the show depending on how it goes down or if it goes down. It will be reported that it is due to an injury by others. It is not. It was always the plan and we'll explain that on tonight's show if it happens based on how it is explained.
John from Cincinnati
Building on the above, Braun is out of the Lesnar match.

I think they are down on him holding the big belt, and don’t want to job him yet again(WHICH THEY SHOULD’NT HAVE DONE IN THE FIRST PLACE). The car flip was done to keep him strong, like a wrestler getting his shoulder up 0.1 after the 3 count. Still someone should’ve fucking realized that Braun had no more momentum heading into this match after the shitty way they have booked him for the past year. Brian Fowler
According to Dave, this has been planned for quite awhile. Largely because Vince doesn't want to beat Braun again, nor give him the belt. Because he wants to keep Braun strong but the plan was still Rollins/Lesnar. Also that Brock has wanted to work with Finn since last year, when they initially were going to do it at the Rumble 18. But they kept promoting it because they felt it would sell more tickets. RIPPA
Cross posted from the RAW thread Quote Meltzer on the radio show - As he said last night - it is not due to injury (well not directly) - This has been the plan for a while. At Blood Money (see my note below) - the plan then was Brock/Braun. Hence the angle that was shot. (Brock would win at Rumble and the Mania match was vs. Rollins). It is around this time Vince started considering changing his mind - He realized Braun was cooling off (of course left unsaid was that that was Vince's fault) and since he did need the elbow surgery (which was hurting what he could do in the ring). And he didn't want to have Brock beat Braun twice in a row and he wasn't going to put the title on Braun - Lesnar wants to work with Balor (that's why that was the original plan at last year's Rumble) - Braun still isn't cleared and might still not be for Rumble. If Dave had to guess - he thinks he won't be cleared and won't be in the Rumble match - The waited this long to make the switch because they wanted to sell Rumble tickets (Shocker - the WWE pulled a bait and switch). Not the first or last time they will do that. Blood Money Note
Dolfan in NYC
They've announced Nak/Rusev for the US title on Smackdown tonight. So, it's SEVEN matches plus two Rumbles. With the possibility of Owens-Lashley still possible, though hopefully they'll lay off that until Mania.
tbarrie
Why would they do that? The format of the Rumble makes it easy to get everybody on the show without cramming it full of matches and making it a slog to get through.

It will probably start at 5PM ET. 2-hour kickoff. They'll have 2-3 matches on the kickoff. Main show will run from 7PM ET to 11.
