Casey Chaos from AMEN, dead at 59.

Damn. I really loved AMEN in high school. Haven't listened to them in years. I also really liked the Scum record he did. I just added Death Before Musick to the playlist for tomorrow.

P. Fluid, vocalist for 24-7 Spyz, has passed.

I've never listened to them but maybe some of you have, so. I only remember the name but I guess they were in that Fishbone/Living Colour/Faith No More genre-hopper precursor-to-nu-metal early '90s subsubgenre.

Marianne Faithfull died last week, she was 78.

She led one hell of a life and definitely should have a biopic made about her.

If you're over 50 or so, you probably love Jerry Butler, but if you're under 50 you probably have no idea who Jerry Butler is.

And to be honest, I had heard of him first because I’m on a site that is centered around an election results database so I had seen the name from his time as an elected official in Cook County/Chicago politics

I had heard his music for the first time within the last year and liked it

He was a pretty big star in his day.  When he was a member of the Impressions, they were billed as Jerry Butler and the Impressions.  It's really hard to get top billing in a band that includes Curtis Mayfield, but he was pretty clearly the group's star at that point.  Seriously, he wasn't Sam Cooke or Otis Redding, but he was one of the most prominent "Soul Men" of the day.  If you want to do a cross-genre comparison, he's a lot like his nicknamesake George Gervin, a great basketball player from a forgotten era who was everyone's favorite, but is mostly forgotten when talking about the greatest players of all time.

And David Johansen (New York Dolls/Buster Poindexter) died at 75.

So the only living members of the New York Dolls are a few members who were there for a few minutes in the 70s and members from the 2000s reunion
