I mean he's in his 40's, he has no reason to be doing this shit for the last 20 years, but it's what he wants to do and it's better than how Zero 1 used him. Just turning him into a guy with a tail. He's his own man usually. Not contracted anywhere full time. He probably has an actual job or his wife does.

Clearly, it makes him happy to do it for 20 years, so more power to him.
