I can't believe this but I have two Star Wars posts in a row. I don't follow any of this shit, but it just shows up sometimes. Here's a new line of limited Japanese vinyl pressings with awesome covers coming out. You can find them at http://www.deadtankrecords.com

(I'd rather leave this here than in a music thread, because you'll probably actually look at it here)

Spoiler

Ludwig Goransson "Music from The Mandalorian (Original Score)" LP

Ludwig Goransson "Music from The Mandalorian: Season 2 (Original Score)" LP

Ludwig Goransson "Music from The Mandalorian: Season 3 (Original Score)" LP

John Williams "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi OST" 2xLP

John Williams "Star Wars: A New Hope OST" 2xLP

Now tell me THAT don't look cool, JACK.

Didn't think that was Jabba's kid. Thought it might be another character from the comics.

Spoiler

I like that he is one of the Hutts who can actually fight.

Happy 5 the 4 day to you.  Supposedly a "big trailer" is getting dropped today (possibly a very early teaser of Starfighter?)

In the meantime, my twitterati decided this weekend would be a good one to go back and discuss TLJ

And this tweet pretty much summarizes my POV on that.  8 is the best of the Saga outside of the original trilogy, and I don't particularly think it's close.

Last episode of Maul was excellent

Spoiler

Way more Vader than I expected, and much more in his Rogue One slasher villain type form

I don't think 8 is without its issues, but I still think the only film from the Saga that is straight up better is basically Empire.

It's really interesting to look through our own discussion of the movie at the time.

A fun thing revisit. That said, it's also frustrating because of where reality went.

Tonight it's me, a box of tacos and the original theatrical cut of Star Wars.

Life is good!

May The Force be with you!

The finale to Maul was excellent.

Spoiler

Was actually a pity to see Maul's crew go out one by one. I will particularly miss Spybot. Still, Vader showing up was awesome. The fight went exactly how it should have with him being a bit Voorhees/Myers esque with the crew just trying to escape for survival.

It will be interesting to see if we get another season

I am finding myself searching for reasons to go to the movies and watch Samus Aran & The Metroid next week. I guess Episode 9: The Murder of Nostalgia didn't 100% kill my fandom.

Mandolorian and Grogu opened on RT at 56%.

It's now up to 61

Saw The Mandolorian and Grogu today. I really dug it. It was fun and thats what I want from going to the cinema. Anyone who enjoyed the tv show will like this.

Just got out of Mando. Thought it was fun enough. Basically a big episode of the show. Fun, low stakes time at the movies.

I guess that's my biggest issue with whether to see it. If it just feels like 3 eps of the show stapled together, then why is it a movie? I'd rather there were stakes, even if it's just for them trying to actually do something with Grogu long-term.

Honestly there is nothing in it that would really require you to rush to see it. It's obviously season 4 stripped down to be a movie. That said, I *would* recommend eventually seeing it.

It has some stunning visuals(including some honest to goodness stop motion work). The soundtrack kicks ass, and there is a strong emphasis on Grogu maturing.

I saw The Mandalorian and Grogu on Saturday (review in the main movie thread). Surprised by the lack of the Star Wars/John Williams opening fanfare. Ludwig Goransson was great though (I loved how it used 1980s synths too).

I wonder if seeing it in IMAX made the difference for me.

They save the big John Williams fanfare for the main saga movies. Besides, Mando has his own cool music.

And so I saw M&G...  It was fine. Felt like season 4 of the show, right down to the episode breaks.  Thought Grogu would say a word or something, but I guess with a character that can live 900 years, that's not in the cards.

Question for those deeper in the lore, who the f was that Kung Lao guy?

Hat guy was a bounty hunter called Embo. He was in the Clone Wars series, I think this is his first live action appearance.
