just drew Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 I'm just now getting to watch Andor. It's deeply awesome, but I am confused about something; the Biggs from this show isn't the same character as Lukes friend Biggs from Tattooine, right? Like, the one who used to bullseye Womprats in Luke's T-16 back home?

Eivion Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Caught the first two episodes of Skeleton Crew over the past two nights. It definitely captures that 80s kid adventure feel they are going for. The kids are annoying but within expectations with plenty of room to grow. Really digging the pirate aspects and what little they have shown of Jude Law's character at the beginning and end has me intrigued. Really liked the robot and hope he will be a regular. What I thought was particularly interesting was the twist revealed in the second episode. Was unexpected, but it explains some of offness of the home planet the kids are from and why it will be such a journey to return to. 2
Eivion Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 Thought episode 3 was pretty solid. I actually like the relationship Law has with the kids, and the pace is pretty nice. 1
Technico Support Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 The pirate robot’s name is SM-33. Smee. 1 1
Technico Support Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 He also has a peg leg, which is so needless and hilarious. This is such a good show. It’s Star Wars Goonies. 2
Eivion Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Finished the finale of Skeleton Crew an hour or two ago. Thought it was pretty nice overall along with the series in general. I like that this was mostly worked as one and done. A pity Acolyte seemed to do enough damage that not many people were watching. Still, I have seen more positive talk towards it than others so there is that at least. 1

I thought it was the most fun, baggage-free content they've made in some time, and it was smart not to have it heavily embedded in other canon and lore. It really could live inside its own bubble and thrive, and I thought it was a strong use of Jude Law's star power. I also think that's a character that is interesting enough for them to use again if it makes sense because you can see some internal conflict in the character. Wisely, it never felt forced nor addressed in some heavy-handed way, and that might be because you're trying to see this through the perspective of these kids. 2
Technico Support Posted January 20 Posted January 20 I thought it was okay but, like a lot of Star Wars shows, had a real 2-3 episode lag in the middle where they’re treading water and not much happens. Probably less noticeable or at least easier to deal with when you’re binging it. Week to week, eps like that really sour it.

Eivion Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Nice to finally have a trailer and date though the music feels like an odd choice. Surprised by the lack of Luthen. Makes me curious how many years they are skipping ahead. I knew we would hit Rogue One territory, but I'm hoping we get to see a decent amount of time before it.
AxB Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Apparently they'll be releasing three episodes per week, and each 3 episode arc will constitute a year's worth of story time/ there'll be a 12 nmonth time jump between arcs. 2
Craig H Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Kathleen Kenedy is (going to be) out at Disney/Star Wars. Most people think it will be Feige or Filoni taking her place. Filoni makes the most sense for obvious reasons.
Technico Support Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Say what you want about the state of Marvel post-Endgame, but Feige wouldn't have mismanaged the Star Wars sequel trilogy as bad as Kennedy did. 2

A lot of the state of the MCU post-Endgame was forced upon Feige with having to churn out new characters, new TV series, trying to keep even more plates spinning, the main villain getting properly cancelled, COVID, 2 strikes, numerous production delays as a result of most of those, and being tasked with trying to jumpstart a new Star Wars trilogy that went nowhere. The two things Feige really wanted were Shang-Chi, which I thought was pretty good and a lot of fun even if the third act was pretty meh, and the Eternals, which wasn't the best entry in the MCU, but a lot like Solo: A Star Wars Story, it was the most "Eh, it was fine" movie ever in the MCU. Whether he would lead Star Wars as well as the MCU would depend on how interested he was in Star Wars. 1

Filoni makes the most sense for obvious reasons. It won't be Feige considering how busy he is with Marvel. Filoni is already CCO and Kennedy's job requires more business aspects than what Filoni would be familiar with. 4 hours ago, Technico Support said: Say what you want about the state of Marvel post-Endgame, but Feige wouldn't have mismanaged the Star Wars sequel trilogy as bad as Kennedy did. Because Feige would have formed a outline for the entire trilogy before moving forward. She really should have gone to Filoni and the rest of the writers at Lucasfilm first instead of hiring Abrams and co. Oddly enough I actually think her record outside of the trilogy fine. Its just that it sadly set the tone for how the audience views SW under her regardless of quality. The change up is needed at this point. 2 hours ago, Log said: I really don't like Filoni's stuff he's done. It's like 90% "Hey, remember that guy from the cartoons? Here he is as a live character! At one point it was, but that has definitely fallen off: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Dial of Destiny (It was ok) Not knowing a thing about Lord and Miller and then upending their work All of the rest of the production and casting issues with Solo Everything that happened with Rogue One while it was in development Hiring D&D based on their GoT work and then...saying yeah no to them The Lando thing with Donald Glover that never happened The Rian Johnson trilogy that never happened The Patty Jenkins Rogue Squadron movie that will never happen The Kevin Feige trilogy that never happened The Daisy Ridley movie that now seems like it's not going to happen I feel like there was even another trilogy planned for someone else that will never happen An Obi Wan series that would have worked better as a movie considering out of the 6 episodes, only two and a half to maybe three mattered and the rest just repeated themselves. TV has been a high point, but that's more due to Jon Favreau being a genius when it comes to this stuff and Filoni having a vision carried over from the animated series. Even then, TV has had it's low points with all of the stuff you could and should ignore from Obi Wan and basically all of the Acolyte. And I suppose the end of Ahsoka was crummy and dumb. There just seemed to be little to no oversight from Kennedy at a certain point and it became more about throwing a bunch of shit at the wall, 90% of which didn't stick, and the 10% that did had major issues. And again, this is not even delving into the myriads of issues with the sequel trilogy. They paid billions for Star Wars and proceeded to do so little with it on the big screen. It the spring it will be 6 years since the last Star Wars movie came out. I'm not saying they need to go full MCU, but damn, 6 years and the last thing you had in the theater was Rise of Skywalker is pretty inexcusable. And I don't even know what Lucasfilm is beyond Star Wars. Indiana Jones seems dead at this point with a video game being the best entry in the series. But with how good CGI can be and how good animation can be that they never even thought to try to get a Sam and Max movie off the ground or make a movie out of something like Maniac Mansion is crazy. It doesn't all have to be Star Wars. Or Indy. 1
Technico Support Posted March 1 Posted March 1 I thought Solo was inoffensive/better than average and Rogue One might be just behind Andor and the Mandalorian shows as the best stuff made in this era. Of course, Rogue One was saved in the editing room.
Casey Posted April 6 Posted April 6 so I’ve seen most of the Star Wars media throughout my life, some multiple times, and I’ve found myself wanting to do a chronological watchthrough. I’m not interested in doing the whole “this episode first, then this one, then this different series, go back to that other show and this episode, etc”. Just a rough timeline watchthrough. I’m pretty sure IGN’s take is just the Disney+ timeline with some extras added, but any thoughts? I’m not opposed to splitting seasons obviously, just not what I mentioned earlier. Also don’t mind “non-canon” things, which is kinda silly anyway. Quote The Acolyte Phantom Menace Attack of the Clones Clone Wars 2003 The Clone Wars Movie Clone Wars 2008 Revenge of the Sith Bad Batch Solo Obi-Wan Rebels Andor Rogue One A New Hope Empire Strikes Back Return of the Jedi The Mandalorian (S1/S2) Book of Boba Fett The Mandalorian (S3) Ahsoka Skeleton Crew Resistance The Force Awakens The Last Jedi Rise of Skywalker I’m on Attack of the Clones right now already. Phantom Menace was suuuuch a slog to get through. 2
