That was a good show! 

That's the finish where Ladd knocks out TA with an illegal object, but then he rolls TA onto him and kicks out at two to sell that Magnum's still in it before he hits the double legdrop and pins him, right? I love that particular heel spot where they're trying to sell that the match is still competitive to throw the ref off the scent. 

And then they put Brad Armstrong over Ladd and did nothing with him as champion. BA was very over in the Mid-South arena.

Did anyone use an atomic drop when play-wrestling as a kid? Like shoot corn-hole a kid with their knee from on high in their back yard or on the school track?

I mean, 1978 isn't 2026 where you have to beat dudes with three top-rope flipping pile drivers and a springboard Tsukahara through a burning table that has a pile of thumbtacks underneath it.

Also, Superstar got a boot on the ropes that the ref missed, so the atomic drop didn't really KO him.

Regular atomic drop was allowed but inverted was banned because we couldn't figure out how to do it without straight up kneeing each other in the beans.

You’d think they could do that “full tournament” video with KOTRs before 1996 too (well, just for 1993-95, it would be a revelation if they had unseen footage of the Providence/Foxboro tournaments)

As for Atomic Drops, the concept is credible enough, but even if lower back jamming/tightness would really hurt, it’s not like back breakers have been finishers in the last 40 years aside from the tilt a whirl

Mero vs Skip was actually a pretty fun spotfest. Skip was pretty much irrelevant but both Mero and Candido were willing to do lots of spotzzz in a 1996 WWF ring, plus Jake is out there on commentary and is pretty good at that
