Minor upset that Buzz actually made the graphic instead of Jake Roberts with the temptation of maximizing YouTube views by going to the more known national names.

Without knowing the exact upload process, I’m guessing it takes way less time for the Vaultmaster to find/upload the files of Hidden Gems than it takes to digitize something new. Like I don’t know if they’re working in there 7 days a week or if they lineup stuff a few days in advance and spend the rest of their time on their other WWE job

I figure Last Battle of Atlanta (either the card or the match, both were Hidden Gems) is going on the Vault soon enough. But something like Thanksgiving 83 at the Omni will always seem possible since we got something from that card already

If they upload all the good stuff, then the only thing left for the Vaultmaster to do will involve redubbing DDP matches with a better replacement for “Self High Five”

Watching late 86 Wrestling Challenge episodes on YT lately introduced me to the “giant fan producing white noise” overdub of Hillbilly Jim’s music. Late 86 WWF is surprisingly breezy TV but they would have to spend a lot of time dubbing over all the music they didn’t have permission to use if they put all that up

Randy Colley/Moondog Rex was replaced by Barry Darsow as Smash because of Colley being too recognizable as Moondog Rex. Fans chanted Moondog at 'im. He had to go.

Duggan vs Sawyer from the show uploaded by the Vault is as much fun as you'd expect. Sawyer bleeds like a maniac. Mid-South Duggan is an asskicker.

I liked it, Buzz bled a bunch and is a total psycho screaming unintelligible nonsense after they finally break them up in the back, but I still can't stand Duggan. The pose with the fists on hips and all the stupid posturing, the stomp, it really gets on my nerves. Also, they cursed a lot in this match. There were so many vacant spots to cut out an F-word it was crazy.

Bruno and Sgt. Slaughter have words before their MSG match (that wasn't televised)

I'd be shocked if that match is in the Vault because if it was, it would have been seen by now, but you know that crowd was just amazing and Slaughter probably did his post bump

another thing about Duggan/Sawyer, I think that the "no ringside mats" thing works better if it's a wood floor like in the New Orleans arena than if it's concrete. I don't know if you can actually do anything on wood that you can't do on concrete but it shows up better on film if it's wood when you're only lighting the ring/ringside.

The Municipal Auditorium is still standing, one of these decades they might spend the money to redevelop it.

Apologies if i'm misidentifying materials and mistaking marble for wood

I hadn't seen this in years, so threw it on and guess what? I'm gonna say something real controversial here.

This is better than Misawa/Kawada.

It's just got so much intensity, and drama, and firepower, and storytelling. Right out of the gate Jumbo tries to get it done with a lariat but that doesn't work, even though it's Hansen-level, and you buy it. Misawa just took off the mask so he's got all the Tiger Mask II offense like landing on the back of his head on the floor to dropkick somebody (boy, the man was always like this). They do some strength stuff and Jumbo gets put in the corner... and Misawa slaps him. Jumbo's like WHUT. They repeat... ANOTHER SLAP. This time Jumbo looks like his feelings are literally hurt and the crowd just explodes and it's like the temperature went up 1000 degrees. Jumbo goes through his entire arsenal but Misawa just won't stay down, and shocks Jumbo with an elbow, they trade a ton of nearfalls, Misawa does a sick plancha right over the top, both guys are just spent... and they slip on a banana peel. It's beautiful. Jumbo looks like he still wants to go. Misawa can't believe it. He gets lifted onto Kobashi and Kawada's shoulders and it looks like he cries. The stoic-est, crying.

So so good.

I love the story about Jumbo questioning the planned finish during the show, thinking they should do a DQ or some other fuck finish. He wrote a note out to that effect and had one of the young boys run it to Baba's locker room. Baba sent back a reply note with one word: "いえ".

Spoiler

"No"

And that was that.
