I worked at WSIL for a few years. Our station manager found out a few of us were wrestling fans and told us that Savage used to pop in the station to drop off tapes back when they ran ICW. 
 

A guy I worked with in Louisville used to direct some ICW tv tapings. I think they were in Lexington. He used to hang out with the wrestlers some. He said after he’d moved to Louisville, Randy would call him when they were coming through town to hang out. Said Savage was the nicest guy.

Wonder if there’s an alternate universe where Macho Man Randy Savage was bound for promoting shows like his father if not for becoming so famous in the WWF.

This was in that channel's feed. Totally awesome and madcap stuff from the Tommy Rich/Buzz Sawyer feud. Piper goes absolutely nuts and does the bottle trick. Buzz drinks raw eggs and it's totally disgusting. There's a wild brawl that has people chanting "2! 2! 2!" for Mr. Wrestling II, and then they show early footage of RICK RUDE destroying a jobber with the sickest Rude Awakening ever.

That Rest In Peace match is just so shitty but also in a vacuum has that WWF magic where it kinda works? Gonzalez doesgive Taker the worst bodyslam I've seen in a while. After just a shitty normal match, Vince is like "I guess now we know what a Rest in Peace" match is!!!!!" Yes, it did kill any interest in watching the rest of this video. 

I also really love how Undertaker hits the ropes.

I am not sure that match added any extra buys.

Why they did the 180 because they realized that card was shit and you couldn't just headline a card with Diesel vs. Mabel is beyond me. I don't think anyone one really bought Razor who had been a babyface for two years was suddenly just really competitive with Shawn and would do anything to win. Keep in mind, the Shawn vs. Sid thing only sprung up cause they did a 180 and turned Shawn after WrestleMania XI. However, that was lukewarm to the Shawn/Razor frigid cold story.

the Diesel/Sid booking was also super-weird where they did that match twice on In Your Houses but had a tag match on King of the Ring

Me and my cousins decided to go to SummerSlam live because they added the ladder match, the novelty of the first PPV in Pittsburgh wasn't enough when the big matches were Diesel v Mabel, Shawn v Sid and Bret v a dentist.

I think they would have done well attendance wise, ladder match or no ladder match. WWF at that time rarely struggled when it came to PPV attendance, which is funny considering they were putting out some all time bad stuff. Plus, I believe that was when they decided to spruce up some of their production for their live events.

And ironically, considering what they did for Diesel/Mabel, Taker/Kama, and Shawn/Razor, Bret vs. Isaac Yankem may have been by default the best built up program just cause Lawler/Bret had been going for TWO YEARS by then.

Hogan/Andre from MSG gets JR/King on commentary because it originally didn't air on TV (it did air on All-American Wrestling shortly before Hogan came back to the WWF when All-American was a show for the WWF tricking other promotions into sending footage of their guys so WWF fans would see them before they went to the WWF)

a bunch of the 1980 Shea show was aired in some form over the years but I wonder if they have full footage of any of the Shea shows to put them on the Vault (okay, maybe we don't NEED to see Bruno and Pedro go for 65 minutes but..)

Hey, the Bulldogs wanted to drop the belts to the Harts instead of Sheik/Volkoff, just thought of that with the Hart Foundation facing Sheik/Volkoff. We join Moondogs vs Rougeaus in Progess. What went wrong that they had to trim time out of this match. The Moondogs here being Colley and Latham. Rougeaus win. Paul Orndorff is in the Flower Shop and he's back with Bobby Heenan. Tom Tatri is here to lose to Jake Roberts. There is no give in this ring, holy hell. Tatri actually got a move in (he reversed an Irish Whip and got clotheslined). Jake wins with the DDT and he dumps Damien on Tatri. Vince teasing Bruno about the Damien coming at him. Imagine all the Italians if Jake dumped Damien on Bruno Sammartino. Giant Machine insists that he isn't Andre the Giant. Watched that last night. I loved the local promos, especially Shieky Baby.  Vince and Bruno are hilariously awkward at times on commentary.  Really fun show.
