Curt McGirt Posted July 7, 2025 Posted July 7, 2025 I love how we're talking about the WCW uploads in three different threads now haha

Curt McGirt Posted July 7, 2025 Posted July 7, 2025 Well, TBH we probably should have had a thread for them all by themselves if they were gonna keep doing this shit. This is a lot of material. Yes, I just asked for another thread. Kill me if you must.

I mean, you can tell people until the cows come home about wheee to post about certain topics and they will still post wherever they want. That’s just how things go here. Same with gratuitious starting of unnecessary threads. 1

odessasteps Posted July 8, 2025 Posted July 8, 2025 I presume you average fan has never seen Rick Rood, white meat job guy, before.
Cobra Commander Posted July 8, 2025 Posted July 8, 2025 the Omni/Rick Rood thing reminds me that they released matches from the Superdome on Legends of Mid-South so I wonder if they have the entire cards from the Superdome or just the big stuff they could probably upload some of the stuff that they already released on BluRay 12 years ago since it's not like anybody is actually buying media in that format these days
Casey Posted July 9, 2025 Posted July 9, 2025 https://archive.org/details/kgmb-hawaii A little change of pace from matches. In 2000, a local news channel in Hawaii produced a 48 minute documentary about the history of pro wrestling in Hawaii, and they interview people like Lord James Blears, Nolan Rodrigues, King Curtis Iaukea, Prince Neff Maivia, Sammy Steamboat & Don Muraco. It's probably an old VHS to digital rip so don't expect even 1080p, obviously. I love the Archive website, so much good shit on there. 3 2

PuroArchives had an account that got deactivated on there but his videos remained, just hard to find. I've been backing up multiple Archive accounts over the past few months. I've found so much weird random stuff on there. Edited July 9, 2025 by RazorbladeKiss87 1
Casey Posted July 9, 2025 Posted July 9, 2025 I think most of the WCW Classics show from Turner South is considered lost media at this point, but there's a few episodes on YouTube/Archive. We should campaign the WCW Vault to find these, you've gotta think WWE has 'em somewhere. 2

Mister TV Posted July 10, 2025 Posted July 10, 2025 Finally got to watch the 1985 Great American Bash! I really like no announcers, its great to hear the crowd reactions and the banter between the refs and the boys. Face Ron Bass is fun. Sonny Fargo is a bad ref. The ring announcer stinks but is kind of silly so I like him. Why wasn't the ring at the 50 yard line? It looked so weird being at like the 40. Jimmy Valiant & Paul Jones was better than I thought it'd be. Magnum was over enough in the summer of 1985 to be World Champion and bounce between slaying monsters like Kamala and defeating jagoff heels like Tully. Dusty's ego couldn't pull the trigger so he made him Robin to his Batman and Jim Crockett was too much a simpleton to see he had the perfect face to be his "Hogan". The sportscaster carrying the rubber chicken who came out with Flair, totally seems like he was a major prick when the camera was off at the tv station, like throwing coffee cups at interns level prick. Before the match David Crockett is dressed like the teacher you'd see at the mall or a restaurant who'd have a long conversation with your parents. After the match he looks like the uncle of the groom who had way too much fun at the bachelor party. Flair and Nikita was really good until the cluster F at the end. The post match beatdown was unnecessary, let Flair walk out the victor and continue the angle at the next tv taping. How can there be a title change in an unsanctioned match? Dusty & Tully was hot enough that the "lights out" stipulation wasn't needed. Tully as the norm is great in these situations. All the faces dragging a crying Baby Doll away is a really bad look. 3

RazorbladeKiss87 Posted July 10, 2025 Posted July 10, 2025 That might be my favorite channel on YouTube, just for the sheer amount of stuff I've either never heard of or only heard of in the results pages of magazines/newsletters.
twiztor Posted July 10, 2025 Posted July 10, 2025 i originally subbed him for the TNA Xplosion episodes he was uploading, but there's been SO much good stuff! 2
Casey Posted July 10, 2025 Posted July 10, 2025 (edited) glad Bryan's channel is getting some love, I've been a fan of that channel for a few years now. The concept of an ECW house show fascinates me so it's fun to actually get to see them in full, and then he has stuff like SAW or some 90s/00s Memphis wrestling, stuff I used to get on random channels as a teenager. SAW was on here at like 2am on UPN or whatever it was called, Wildside was on Saturdays I think? It's been so long. A lot of extremely weird random match-ups on his channel, too. I watched Raven & Kory Williams wrestle in front of like 12 people in a little gymnasium a few weeks back. Edited July 10, 2025 by Casey 1
hammerva Posted July 10, 2025 Posted July 10, 2025 For people that feel like the current women's division of the WWE saying that they aren't getting any respect, maybe watching the newest WWE Vault on "The Rise of AJ Lee 2013-2014" is a good example of being kind of thankful. In the first 30 minutes it immediately brings you back to the Divas era: 1. Battle royals where getting eliminated but hitting the floor instead of over the top 2. Commentary that when it is not making sexual references to the wrestlers are not paying attention to anything going on 3. Matches that are barely 3 minutes long 4. Stephanie McMahon still showing that she is the ultimate boss I assume that they brought it back to make people assume that she is coming back at Evolution this weekend. But the rise of AJ Lee kind of ages like milk.
odessasteps Posted July 10, 2025 Posted July 10, 2025 I wonder if them posting AJ content will lead to people thinking she might be coming back for something..
hammerva Posted July 11, 2025 Posted July 11, 2025 So wait did Greg Valentine invent the Gonzo bomb cause it sure did look like we gave Pez one. So far this is FAR from a one match card. Only the first 2 matches can considered duds. The others have been in the good to damn good category
Cobra Commander Posted July 11, 2025 Posted July 11, 2025 I missed the first 27 minutes of the show because I thought it was starting at 7pm Central and not 7pm Eastern Instant review of Piper/Sawyer: boy, they sure did bleed a whole fucking lot
hammerva Posted July 11, 2025 Posted July 11, 2025 Yeah that match definitely delivered and then some. Just violence for the sake of violence as Dusty would say. Two bat shit crazy guys with no care in the world So is it safe to start having the "is this Piper best dog collar match of 1983" argument? 1
