hammerva Posted March 29 Posted March 29 So this weekend we learned apparently the majority of Chicago Bears fans and some in social media have no clue who George "the Iceman" Gervin is Sad
dogwelder Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Is it also sad that when I first heard about the "Iceman" controversy I immediately thought of Iceman King Parsons before Gervin or the X-Men character?

Brian Fowler Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Also Dean Malenko and you know what? Maybe that just isn't a moniker that should get trademark protection
zendragon Posted March 29 Posted March 29 I'm no Lawyer but sometime I hear about people trying to copywrite things that seem awfully generic
Dolfan in NYC Posted March 30 Posted March 30 I think it's adorable that the owners are pushing the 18th game as "well the players all want it, but I have reservations and conditions (all of which will ultimately benefit me)":
elizium Posted March 31 Posted March 31 16 international games a year? Christ. Those games always suck 1
NoFistsJustFlips Posted March 31 Posted March 31 Im all for it but are the players? I assume no extra money going thier way for an extra game because of contracts and salary caps. But man having two bye weeks in a season might offset all the negatives for them.

Puka continues the WR career speed run and per Schefter has entered rehab.
Dolfan in NYC Posted April 7 Posted April 7 [In the style of Coldplay concert attendees] Oops... You don't suppose this could be a reason why she's been leading the AJ Brown out of Philly brigade do you?

Dolfan in NYC Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Potential #1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza had some thoughts about George Floyd.

Dolfan in NYC Posted April 16 Posted April 16 Tom Brady's flag football events (and possible future league) is being funded by Fanatics and the Saudi's PIF. But.... *points across the body of water to Saudi's east* So... it looks like the Saudi's may be pulling their money. They are apparently pissed that the event got moved from Riyadh because of the war and are pulling back money in general. Saturday is going to be fascinating to see if Mania '27 is even going to be mentioned. I'm guessing right now it's 70/30 for it happening in Riyadh.

I almost posted a similiar thing in the Golf thread since because of the same very reason, LIV golf will be ending at the end of this season (basically they are funded this year but that's it) I also debated starting a sports business thread because of this but then thought better of it
Dolfan in NYC Posted April 17 Posted April 17 Alshon Jeffrey, the guy you picked up on waivers in Week 9 because all your guys are hurt and/or on a bye at the same time, has been arrested for insurance fraud. He faces up to 5 years in prison. 1
hammerva Posted April 28 Posted April 28 You would think that everyone in sports who is moderately famous and caught screwing around his wife would go to the Kobe Bryant playbook. Well Mike Vrabel decides to go a much different and much cheaper route Granted this is the Post so 80% chance this is complete bullshit. But still funny as fuck

But still funny as fuck My coworker brought this up last week, and I think it would make this story at least 5x funnier. What if all of this was part of some sort of alternative lifestyle and we're just airing out a polycule. I can't think of anything the sports media would have less ability to discuss than that. 1 1
