odessasteps Posted October 8, 2025 Posted October 8, 2025 Some this is not related to current football, figured I’d put this in here. (Some people would start a vanity thread) Which football player turned wrestler had the highest draft position? (Not counting celeb 1 shot footballers) the answer might surprise you, ((coming to a pod at some point) this is based on my research including almost 100 football players who wrestled and/or wrestlers will a college/pro background.

I had three guys who immediately came to mind and they were drafted in the reverse order in which I assumed. Ernie Ladd, 4th round, Mongo, 3rd round, Wahoo, 2nd round.

Cobra Commander Posted October 8, 2025 Posted October 8, 2025 worth noting that the 1960 AFL Draft didn't have neatly defined rounds.. instead they just picked 33 guys each for the first season
odessasteps Posted October 8, 2025 Posted October 8, 2025 Also, it’s territory era only. No Nagurski, Nominelli. No modern guys. And someone had at least 14 matches, no one shots.
RIPPA Posted October 8, 2025 Author Posted October 8, 2025 Again Russ Francis was drafted 16th overall so if it’s not him it is someone I would probably argue doesn’t count And Russ worked AWA and the NWA so he definitely did the territories
zendragon Posted October 8, 2025 Posted October 8, 2025 Leo Nomellini, 1st round draft pick and NWA Champ

But he wrestled a good number of matches in different years.

Travis Sheldon Posted October 8, 2025 Posted October 8, 2025 Alex Karras? But, I've already forgotten the criteria you laid out as I type this. 1

odessasteps Posted October 8, 2025 Posted October 8, 2025 Who knew you still had guys in 2025 named Hymie?

Dolfan in NYC Posted October 22, 2025 Posted October 22, 2025 Jason Kelce has decided to lose his money by... ...playing real life Roller Coaster Tycoon. I guarantee you he's doing this so he can do the old man dance from those Six Flags commercials from when he grew up.
RIPPA Posted October 23, 2025 Author Posted October 23, 2025 Roger Goddell confirmed that the NFL won't/can't start negotiating an 18 game season until the NFLPA has elects a new executive director Since that search is next expected to conclude sometime in early 2026 - that means the idea of it being in place for 2027 is all but dead
Cobra Commander Posted October 23, 2025 Posted October 23, 2025 it feels like theme parks are more likely to make a comeback than other things that have went downhill since the 90s.. it's not like the Kelces are investing their money in reviving shopping malls
Raziel Posted October 23, 2025 Posted October 23, 2025 He can't do worse than the current guy running Six Flags that actively chased away customers.
Dolfan in NYC Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 His daughters were clearly sick of his shit too...
