In terms of comeback lines, this is a shit one.

Let's be honest about that.

It's not a comeback line because your question made no sense whatsoever and was treated as such.

I'm confused. Why is someone unreasonable if they want to own a yacht? That sounds pretty awesome. Even small yachts are fun to go out on.

Ah, but if you had to star in Norbit to pay for the yacht, was the yacht truly worth it?

Personally, I'd rather drown at sea.

Because, I did see Norbit.

Sure. Fine. Whatever makes you happy.

It's only a message board, dude.

No one cares.

You did enough to make a note of it, and then say you didn't care.

When you say stupid, nonsensical things on a message board, these things tend to happen.

I'd star in Norbit to pay for a yacht.  I'm pretty sure I'd make more money than I've ever seen if I starred in Norbit, and I got bills homie.  I'd star in Pootie Tang if they paid me enough money to buy a yacht.  Matter of fact, there isn't a non-gay porn movie in the history of cinema I wouldn't star in for yacht money.  My principles don't really extend to acting choices.  I've seen some terrible movies, I'd star in all of them for yacht money.

I draw the line at Al Jolson and butler/the help/black person or people saved by benevolent white person films. Everything after that is up for negotiations. Then again, based on what roles many black actors and actresses are still accepting, people in Hollywood draw the line at you turning those roles down anyway.

Don't tell this to Eddie Murphy.

He would probably do it.

Heck, he might do the gay porn movies too!

Pootie Tang is the funniest movie of all time. I'd star in it for free.

Also, let's be honest: Eddie Murphy, or any other actor for that matter, isn't under any obligation to make art, or use their talents how you see fit. It's not squandering anything if they are content to do work and make as much money as they want. That's just a different way of looking at the world.

What I will say about Eddie Murphy: Someone with that amount of talent...should have done something a whole lot better with their talent.

I felt the same when I saw Adam Sandler acting everyone else off screen in Punch Drunk Love.

Eddie Murphy had a pretty good run though.  I'd probably call Eddie Murphy my favorite actor ever, he was pretty much the biggest movie star for an entire decade.  You can claim he could have done more, but how many people have had a better 10-year stretch than him?

You know what Adam Sandler did with his talent?

He had Columbia Pictures/Sony up his ass to the point where they give him insane gobs of money to do godawful films with him and his friends.

You see they don't think highly of him. That's the talent (and power) everyone wants. To make people do shit even when they don't want to do it. That's an amazing use of talent if you ask me.

But...the films he does now are still unspeakably atrocious.

It's why he's kind of a joke in Hollywood and to movie-goers right now.

I mean, I know he's rich. But he could still have been rich and made slightly better films.

(BTW I liked a lot of his work in the '90s.)

I doubt he gives a shit...probably because he is a rich. If he did, he would make "better" films.

That's the objective of everyone when they get to Hollywood. Then, at some point, talent doesn't directly correlate to income if it ever did in your career. When discussing Murphy and Sandler, we're talking about two talents who are SNL alumni (one from an era where he was the show) who were able to thrive when so many of their contemporaries weren't able to or do it for that long. They already beat the game. Anything else after that is gravy. Yeah, people are going to be selective in what they remember about those two but a lot of those people were born after a certain era. But shit, that goes for everything. Metallica (or insert popular band/artist/musician of your choice) could have made better music, but they didn't. Michael Jordan played for the Wizards. Life will go on.

Isn't the rumour that he's starred in a few homemade transexual porn films in his time? Or did everyone believe his line about just giving them a lift somewhere in his car?

Also, not seven days ago Reed was applauding the Miz for his fantastic willingness to sell out. And now he's castigating Eddie Murphy for the same thing. Isn't it coincidental? Don't you think?

I think that's some Hollywood hijinks. I have never heard anything about that. I heard the rumors about him and Johnny Gill, but a lot of it sounds like made up fantasy bullshit.
