Movies like Pluto Nash and Meet Dave I don't really hold against Eddie. They were ideas that just didn't work, but I can understand why they were made. Under a different creative team, there could have been pretty fun, quirky, movies there.

You just just reminded me of Vampire In Brooklyn. From Wiki:

Quote

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Murphy gave a reason Vampire in Brooklyn was a failure. "The only way I was able to do Nutty Professor and to get out of my Paramount deal, I had to do Vampire in Brooklyn. But you know what ruined that movie? The wig. I walked out in that longhaired wig and people said, 'Oh, get the fuck out of here! What the hell is this?'"

Isn't the rumour that he's starred in a few homemade transexual porn films in his time? Or did everyone believe his line about just giving them a lift somewhere in his car?

Also, not seven days ago Reed was applauding the Miz for his fantastic willingness to sell out. And now he's castigating Eddie Murphy for the same thing. Isn't it coincidental? Don't you think?

Miz simply doesn't want to get brain-damaged or end up dead before he's 50. So he does a soft wrestling style. That's understandable.

Murphy just wants to make as much money as possible. So he signs on for anything and makes the worst films ever. That's not so understandable.

There's a difference here, you know? In terms of priorities and what the stakes are.

A guy who grew up in poverty and has learned time and time again that fame is fleeting and the paychecks can dry up at any time (and has had an expensive divorce or two) goes for the money at every opportunity? I can understand that.

Not to mention that he's a comedy legend and has plenty of great movies/performances under his belt.  DeNiro is a legend, he's also in a shitload of terrible movies.  If you stick around Hollywood long enough, you'll end up in a bunch of shitty movies.
