Tromatagon
Yeah, if it is it's probably considered a MOOK which might make it way harder to find. They do go up on ebay a lot though, like every once in a while you'll see random new ones up there.
AxB
Does Hardcore Holly say anything about Steve Williams? Because I can remember in a Dr Death shoot interview, he slagged off Holly for whining to the office about his neck hurting and they made Williams stop doing the Dangerous Backdrop. So his finisher became a standard Belly to Back, which got over not at all.

He mentioned him in Brawl For All, shitting on how hard JR pushed Williams, and later how WWE was working the scorecards to try to advance Williams through. He was more negative towards JR for that than Williams, though. He said JR put Bart Gunn up against Butterbean as revenge, and that the whole thing was a clusterfuck. Other than that, though, I don't remember a mention.

Other than that, though, I don't remember a mention. He said something about how Terry Funk was pissed that the locker room cheered when Williams got knocked out b/c he thought they were disrespecting him (Williams). Holly said that no one really had any beef with Williams, just that it was a combination of Bart being well-liked backstage, resenting JR constantly putting Williams over and the fact that they all thought Williams' first fight was rigged. cwoy2j
Another interesting thing from Holly's book is that he said that while the Gunn/Butterbean match was promoted as a Brawl for All match, BB's camp would only agree to it being a straight boxing match. Both guys were told they weren't allowed to use any takedowns. Holly posited that this was another way for the office to make Bart look bad b/c he (Bart) would've had a fighting chance under regular B4A rules as he was a decent amateur but obviously had no chance if he had to stand toe to toe with BB. ka-to
All in Japanese, but very very little text. Trade paperback size, not one of those dinky little superthick books. It may have been from one of the puro magazines. - RAF I'm pretty sure that it was from the Weekly Gong people and that Koji Yamamoto did some(most) of the work on it. If not, they made a very similar MOOK.
Tabe
Just finished the Backlund book over the weekend. It might be my favorite one so far. He brings great insight into his craft, is honest and critical without being bitter, and goes into a lot of detail. My only complaint would be that he basically stops with the dawn of 1984. I would have loved to hear more about his noon-WWF wrestling ventures and his other careers. But we don't get that. What IS here is great, however. Johnny Sorrow
Briefly. He goes over coming back, the heel turn, and winning and losing the belt all in one chapter. It's clear that all that isn't really important to him outside of it being a capper to his career and how that was a correct time for him to turn heel, not in 1984 when Vince first wanted him to. But the rest of the book is amazing in its detail of his start in the territories and his reign as champ. I finished it in four days, it's fantastic. lostinube
The age old story: boy buys book, boy loves book, boy lends book to someone, boy never sees book again. I bought a great tome at the bookseller in Mitsuwa (IL) aprox. 10 years ago. It was a softcover photo collection of the gaijin who did early Japanese wrestling tours, featuring a promo photograph on one page and action shots on the facing page. I believe it featured several promotions and not just one. The Sharpe Brothers, Blassie, Bull Ramos, Dick The Bruiser, Brody, et al, were all in it. I have tried to track it down, but with no title, publisher, ISDN or other info I have been disappointed. Can any of you scholars help me out? thanks, RAF Was it something like this? There are a few shots of the opposite page but they have a lot of text with action shots.
thee Reverend Axl Future
Unfortunately that is not it, although I would by that, even just for the cover. I appreciate the effort. Now it's getting personal... - RAF
lostinube
Oh well. I'll keep googling around. If you have anymore details, please let us know. Color? Who was on the cover?
thee Reverend Axl Future
Only b+w pics. Plain cover, not the sometimes typical collage-type jumble. Comic book sized (US) or slightly bigger. Let the hunt begin! - RAF
Stoychers
The in-laws got me the Backlund book for my birthday (they had no clue what they were buying) so I'm hoping to get round to it soon enough. Really falling behind because I've got the Daniel Bryan and Don Fargo books still to read too.
Andrews
Recently finished the Backlund book myself, was disappointed he didn't go into his second run much. 92 - 95 is such a great period for backstage happenings, it would have been interesting to hear Bob's perspective. JazeUSA
I am very excited about this, but that price! I need a review or two, as well as an assurance that Jeebus won't be continually name-dropped, although the Debbil is acknowledges in the pitch. http://www.maniacmarklewin.com/bookstore.html but this author pic is quite impressive: he's one baaad mother--- RAF (just talkin' about Haze) 138 pages of actual reading content here, I was severely disappointed for $38.50! jojomellon
Glad she could release this before she does her prison time. Someone has to find this and post it here. Dying to know what kind of bizarre mistruths are told in this book. Also confused as to how she 'rose' again.
