Is this show just on Fight Pass in America? Bit of a come down for Dos Anjos, considering his last scheduled fight was a PPV main against McGregor, and now he's not even on telly at all (in the UK at least).

Yes it's Fight Pass only.

Guest Edwin

It would be tremendous to see Eddie win.

Keep an eye out for Birchak vs. Lopes. It should be good.

I wanna see how Duffy and Birchak react from their losses. I think Duffy can get over the hard fight with Poirier, and it's much more clearer where the holes in his game lie. You can work on takedown defense especially if not every opponent is someone who has clearly gotten better through experience.

Birchak, on the other hand, is a 1-2 fighter in the UFC and hardcore fans really expected him to make waves right away. His one win is good, but those two losses were on the opposite end of the spectrum. Entwistle is a good grappler and specialist, but that's all that he is really. I can make you a list of bantamweights he can heel hook or leglock, but many of those names can also pound him into oblivion as he is fishing for an ankle. I don't even think Perez is a better fighter than Entwistle, and he managed to do what you're suppose to do when people spam that. So you can probably chalk that loss for Birchak up to being a young fighter.

In the Thominhas fight, he got laid out in a fashion that I think might be hard to come back from psychologically. Maybe that fight might've been better as it happened in the UFC and not on AXS where it would probably erase any chance of getting into the UFC. However, how do you go forward from that? Is he going to be gunshy and lose to someone who I see as clearly less polished as a fighter? I think people get excited for fighters out of Brazil with glossy records (or where they're training), but many of them are super raw or unpolished who found a way to overcome those disadvantages and rack up wins on the regional scene. In that TUF Final fight at UFC 190, Lopes looked every bit of that. If Birchak is any close to what he can accomplish, he might run through Lopes something fierce.

Rafael dos Anjos needed a towel to make weight, but he successfully weighed 155. The title fight is official.

Good job. Never a good time not to make weight perhaps more so with UFC celebrations this week culminating in UFC 200.

On the eve of the show, how does everyone feel about Alvarez's chances to beat RDA?

I knew Eddie had moved back to Philly, but I forgot he was training with Edgar as well. That's two top fighters peaking together for title fights.

People have crapped on Alvarez for fighting more conservative, but that has worked to his advantage. You can have wild ass fights against dudes like Chandler and Joachim Hansen if you're on a certain level. However, why flush away a chance at the title trying to win a few bonuses?

I think it's also good in that Dos Anjos isn't going to allow him to fight conservative. Alvarez has to be at his best to beat him. I also want to see how RDA responds as being the champion and having a fight that isn't completely one sided. If Dos Anjos can melt Alvarez, that would be a hell of name to put on the resume.

I wonder how much the Cerrone ass whooping and RDA being called out as a TV champion (and is now defending his belt on an internet show) will play into his approach. I think he'll come out aggressively. Should be great. Hyped for all three nights of fights.

I think he has no chance of beating this current version of RDA.  I think RDA has grown above and beyond the best I've seen of Alvarez.  Alvarez has yet to really impress me in the UFC.

I am wondering what's the cap on this version of Dos Anjos. It's easy in hindsight to discredit any of his wins even though he won all those fights impressively. People can say Nate Diaz was hurt and didn't give a shit. People can say Pettis had a bad orbital bone early on, and it's easy to get him out of a gameplan. People can say Cerrone has a weak liver and doesn't show up in big fights. So on and so forth. So how much of this is Dos Anjos being this awesome fighter, and how much of this is dudes having bad days?

My take is that's just MMA. You can never account for stuff and the conditions. Dos Anjos was injured in the Pettis fight, but I'm not seeing people talk about how valiant that was or why Pettis couldn't beat someone with a bad leg.

Dos Anjos gets the benefit of the doubt from me.  He hasn't just beat the best guys in the best division, he's smashed the best guys in the best division.  If you look at the three dudes you just named, and then realize that those three guys have a pile of big name bodies on their resume, I don't care how hurt or fucked up they were on any given day.  Over the last couple of years, those three, Ben Henderson, Eddie Alvarez, and Khabib Nurmagomedov have been the best lightweights.  I think he beats Alvarez, and I thought he was going to beat McGregor before he got injured.  I hope Nurmagomedov can stay healthy so we can get a rematch, because he's probably the only person standing in the way of RDJ being the best lightweight champion ever.  Honestly, that is a murderer's row of contenders.

RDA was the first guy to knock out Benson Henderson.  I think that counts for something.
