Because he's barely 5'3"?

Against people like Font (and Rivera previously) who are not primarily wrestlers, the size advantage isn't going to be a big deal. When he's fighting someone with a great chin and able to get low on him, it's going to be very difficult for him to avoid takedowns. However, his wrestling did look a little better tonight.

Marquardt was so weary of the big kicks (for good reason as he got hurt by a body kick) that he got stunned and knocked down by a left hook off the break. Then, he got hit with a right hook that was the start of the end for him and Marreta baptized him with another left hook to the temple.  Faceplant KO.

The fact that Matt Brown was officially ranked higher by the UFC than Demian Maia prior to that fight is kind of hilarious.

No, he isn't. Maia is six and Brown is eight. The fighter who is ranked higher always comes out second.

My bad, I was assuming that MMA Junkie was using the UFC's official rankings, rather than their own (obviously bullshit) list.

I had it 29-28 Shogun with the 2nd round being the difference. Corey got two takedowns in round 2, but he did nothing with them and was only on the floor for maybe 90 seconds combined. Shogun had the better offense plus the knockdown at the very end of the round. Right call imo.
