APO Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Man, Lavonte David is pissed on Twitter, hahahahaha.
pipGofern Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Tampa has to be neck and neck with Cleveland for "Franchise most bound and determined to fuck up any little bit of positive progress they make." 3
Kuetsar Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Didn't it seem like they were making some progress? I don't pay them a ton of attention, but unless they have Chip Kelly lined up, this is pretty weird. . .
Tabe Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 What the heck? They improved by 4 wins, Winston showed a lot of progress... what did he do to deserve getting fired?
Brian Fowler Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 I would have understood it if they fired him after one year last year, with the way they collapsed. A "we fucked up and we're getting out from under it asap" kind of move. But after this year? No fucking idea.
Josh Mann Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 I don't get this one either. It seemed like they were making progress as the season went on. It is worth remembering that Chip took the job and then didn't a few years ago. Now that they have Jameis and not Josh Freeman I wonder if that's the play here.
Kuetsar Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 If they don't, its not like there is ton of other great ones out there.
Burgundy LaRue Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Tampa has to be neck and neck with Cleveland for "Franchise most bound and determined to fuck up any little bit of positive progress they make." At least Tampa Bay has a Super Bowl victory. Cleveland is three generations deep into their factory of sadness. This firing makes no sense, unless there's something rotten going on.
Ryan Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 If I read the ESPN article right you can change beat writer to Calvin Johnson himself talking openly about it. Sorry, Fowler.
Death From Above Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 You all are looking for logical explanations for the Washington Generals doing Washington Generals things.
nofuture Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 As a Bucs fan, surprised Lovie got fired. Only thing I can think of it that the front office is worried about losing OC Koetter (who a few teams have shown interest in as head coach) and are looking to promote him as head coach.
Niners Fan in CT Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Show fight, stay competitive, promising young QB... get fired.
The Man Known as Dan Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 What I want to know is how do the teams that inevitably miss out on LA try to save face with their fans? Or do they just resign themselves to being lame ducks? I'd be stunned if Kroenke doesn't sell the Rams if the move fails. He's outright hated in St. Louis. And then there's this. "No NFL club would be interested in the RSA's New St. Louis Stadium. Any NFL Club that signs on to this proposal in St. Louis will be well on the road to financial ruin, and the League will be harmed." St. Louis Rams, in their Los Angeles relocation application Kroenke buries St Louis and pees on the grave for good measure. Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn. Cold blooded. I'm not usually one to defend St. Louis, but I'll say this. 4. That is the total number of winning seasons the St. Louis Rams have had in the 21 year tenure they have been in this city. 11. The number of years it's been since the Rams had an above 500 record. This is a train wreck of an organization. They lucked into an All Time Great QB who was bagging groceries to front line a unique offense, and couldn't keep what was an all time great group of players together. They haven't had a legitimate Wide Reciever since Bruce and Holt left, and there QB's haven't been much better. They haven't been able to draft in the top 10 of drafts to save there own lives. And if Kronke doesn't think the Rams can make money in St. Louis (When, let's be honest here, you know they are anyway) then he's god damned delusional. He's chasing a cash cow. Because that's all owning a sports team is to him. A way to make more money. Which is fine, but just go out and fucking say it like a man instead of hiding away for 10 years before coming in to trash the city whose been lining your pockets.
Kuetsar Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 That dome is by far the ugliest stadium to see on tv. I can only imagine how bad it is in person. . . .
The Man Known as Dan Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 I have no way of comparing it to other stadiums, as I haven't been to any, but it's not a good stadium at all. I can't disagree with claims in that regard. And most Rams fans are miserable pricks, because, well, you'd be too if you were a Rams fan.
Dolfan in NYC Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 I don't get this one either. It seemed like they were making progress as the season went on. It is worth remembering that Chip took the job and then didn't a few years ago. Now that they have Jameis and not Josh Freeman I wonder if that's the play here. Mr. Smith, the Miami Dolphins are on Line 1. Yes, I know what time it is.
The Man Known as Dan Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 I just want to say, I am very curious what happens if the Rams move to LA is rejected. Cause I think the bridge to St. Louis has not only been burnt, it was exploded with an atomic bomb. 1
Ryan Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 He answered the phone, found it was the Dolphins, hung up and blocked the number and waited for the 49ers to call, a much superior job. :-D
RIPPA Posted January 7, 2016 Author Posted January 7, 2016 Looks like Teryl Austin is the Rooney Rule candidate this year as the Browns already interviewed him, the Giants will be interviewing him today and he has interviews with the Dolphins and Eagles (Though to be fair - Austin has a good enough rep that he might actually get one of these jobs) 1
Brian Fowler Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 I was surprised he didn't last year. But this year it took him half the season but he turned Detroit back into a credible defense without its two best players from last year (Suh in Miami and DeAndre Levy who played roughly one half all year) as well as without Nick Fairely, who played really well before getting hurt (the Lions had the number one defense in the NFL in the first half of 2014 before Nick went down) In short, Austin's a damn good d coordinator and deserves a shot.
Jrag Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Damn. The Bucs were competitive even against the good teams. 6 wins with a rookie QB who really needed a month or so before he found his footing. When Lovie left Chicago it was clearly time to move on (to someone worse of course), but this situation doesn't feel like it played out the right way. Lovie instills culture and turns around a laughing stock franchise and you give him the boot after 2 seasons?
Brysynner Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 I just want to say, I am very curious what happens if the Rams move to LA is rejected. Cause I think the bridge to St. Louis has not only been burnt, it was exploded with an atomic bomb. I doubt the Rams will be rejected. Logically it makes sense to have a NFC and AFC team in LA. So the question becomes what does the Chargers do when they're bid for LA is rejected and they're stuck in their horrible stadium
Vincey Greene Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Damn. They're really pretty talented on paper, I don't know that six wins is an acceptable result.
Jrag Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Considering they combined for six wins in the previous 2 seasons, I would say it was acceptable enough. They have talent at the skill positions maybe, but that doesn't really mean all that much considering how badly that team was broken when dude before Lovie left. I don't think he got a fair shake, but his defense is beyond outdated so I wouldn't say I'm shocked. It felt like he needed one more year though.
Cole Miner Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 The way owners are dealing with coaches reminds me of fans with quarterbacks. 2 years in and not an all-pro? He sucks. Get rid of him. Won't get better. 2
