The Eagles owned the Giants during Coughlin's tenure. Jared Goff Paxton Lynch Connor Cook Carson Wentz (don't laugh. . .kid is legitimately good) Christian Hackenberg Cardale Jones (probably going to be one of those guys that lights up the Combine and some team will take a chance on. . .maybe first-rounder is a bit too much, though.) Teams ahead of Houston (either #21 or #22, pending the results of the Green Bay/Washington game) that could/should be looking QB: Cleveland at 2 San Francisco at 7 Philadelphia at 13 St. Louis at 15 Buffalo at 19 (if they don't re-sign Tyrod Taylor) And that doesn't count the teams that could take a younger guy to sit behind an established guy for a couple of years (San Diego at 3, Dallas at 4, Giants at 10, New Orleans at 12, Jets at 20) Obviously, not all 10 of those teams are taking quarterbacks, but it could be a consideration for all of them, at the very least. 1

I just don't see him lasting more than a few more seasons with his injury history. They seem like the most obvious RG3 landing spot to me, although obviously at that point Romo is out. Romo to Houston makes sense for everyone, honestly. Draft a QB1, play Romo for a season or two if he stays healthy. It fits.

I think someone will pay Bob to be a starter though and the Cowboys will end up with JFF. Best case for Dallas is Romo heals up, they bring in someone like Bob as a backup and then draft a guy after next season for the future.

Yeah you can't get rid of the guy because of how good he's been when healthy but they absolutely have to have a capable backup. They went through this once before where he got hurt and they got burned by not having a decent backup and addressed it the next offseason by signing Orton. I think that's the type of move they need to do again. Odds are Romo will get banged up again and you have to have someone worth a shit to fill in.

EJ will probably be cut though(he damn well better be anyway), so if you want a guy with good arm and soft head, he might not be the worst reclamation, or maybe Geno might be available too. The only problem with that is the organizations belief in the team coming off of the packers loss in the playoffs last season. They felt like they were extremely close at that point and then felt like the defensive additions they made this season could make the difference to get them even further. With the injuries that happened there's no way to know. So they're operating with the assumption that a healthy Romo gives them their best chance at a potential deep postseason run. You can't let him go if you feel like that possibility is still on the table and I think it is but the unknown is how long can he stay healthy. I think you sell a year early when you believe that the possibility doesn't exist or isn't likely. But with Dez locked up along with that strong offensive line and with the guys they added on defense, the window is still open.
