Greggulator
That game was so enjoyably awful.Philly's reaction to Kobe was so puzzling. I am so dumbfounded by non-LA Kobe fans to start with. That dude is a total douche. Anyone I have ever seen wearing a Kobe jersey out and about looks like a total drip. He was constantly booed every time he touched the ball here. He also went to a rich kid suburban high school and is hardly a city kid. And it's not like he's been this pro-Philly person. He went to every game at Dodger Stadium in 2008 decked out in LA gear in the playoffs against the Phils that year. I've got not problem with that -- I became a Philly sports fan when I moved here at that age. But he can't just all of a sudden act like he has City Hall tattooed on his back or anything like that. So bafflng.I was so excited when Kobe made his first few shots because his putting up almost 30 shots, and making almost zero the rest of the way, was a guarantee. The Sixers really aren't nearly as awful as the world assumes because of their record. Exposer
So, how long will it take before GS drops one? They're definitely in trouble of losing at least one of these next six away games.
_MJ_
Nick Young on what LAL needs to do: "Not be a circus act...just don't be a clown out there, that's basically what we've been looking like."  Kobe Bryant's got jokes to start his post-game presser: "That was some beautiful basketball!"  Byron Scott did admit Kobe Bryant had some "ill-advised" shots tonight. Says sometimes you're going to live & die with that this season.  Kobe said when he lined up for a jump ball with Jahlil Okafor, Okafor says,"I can't believe I'm going to line up for a jump ball with you!"  Source: https://twitter.com/SerenaWinters  The quotes and videos from this game are hilarious.  BONUS QUOTE: Dwight Howard laughed when asked if he learned anything from Kobe Bryant: "Ah man," he said, smiling. "We're gonna go to the next question."  Source: https://twitter.com/andrewkeh/status/671177979557466112
Niners Fan in CT
Dwight didn't need to learn how to be an asshole from Kobe. He has his own wing in the asshole hall of fame.
_MJ_
Admittedly that's not the full quote from Dwight, which does have praise for Kobe's career in it.  The part I posted is funnier though so...yeah.

Greggulator
Kobe's retirement tour is the least gracious goodbye in history. It is going to be a bunch of shitty 4-for-Infinity games with him in press conferences talking about what dudes on the other team supposedly said to him. Jrag
The Sixers really aren't nearly as awful as the world assumes because of their record. Â No, they really are. Â They have 3 NBA players and 2 of them play the same position. Â They are losing competitively because the coach is actually trying to win. Â Brett Brown is like the anti-Byron Scott. Â Same result, though. Â The average team is playing better this year, but the teams at the bottom are so bad so early in the season. Â It's infuriating. Â It's getting to the point where I'm really just hoping it doesn't pay off. Â Ben Simmons on the Pelicans next year is the best timeline.

supremebve
 The Sixers really aren't nearly as awful as the world assumes because of their record.  No, they really are.  They have 3 NBA players and 2 of them play the same position.  They are losing competitively because the coach is actually trying to win.  Brett Brown is like the anti-Byron Scott.  Same result, though.  The average team is playing better this year, but the teams at the bottom are so bad so early in the season.  It's infuriating.  It's getting to the point where I'm really just hoping it doesn't pay off.  Ben Simmons on the Pelicans next year is the best timeline.  The 76ers have 3 NBA players, and 2 of them play the same position. With that said everyone on the roster may be better than Kobe Bryant. He shot 4-17 on three pointers, you'd think that either him, the coach, or his teammates would have told him to stop shooting threes, but nope just kept on shooting. D'Angelo Russel, Jordan Clarkson, and Julius Randle may end up being really good players, but they'll have to wait until next year to try to figure out their games. This year, it is going to be all Kobe all the time, and it is sad as shit to watch. I'm not a Kobe stan, I've actually been accused of being a Kobe hater, but I don't want to see him go out like this. It is really all of the things that people don't like about Kobe on repeat, and the team seems to be behind him. This is going to be an interesting year. Zimbra
Byron Scott said something the other day to the effect of "In a perfect world Kobe would take less shots, but that's not going to happen" so it sounds like they're just going to ride this out. Â They do have pretty good reason to be terrible this year, but it's getting really hard to watch. Â Another day, another video of Okafor getting into a fight, this one apparently directly followed the other fight in Boston. Â So now he gets a security escort to keep his underage ass out of bars protect him.

The fact that only one gun has been pulled on him is kind of amazing. He's 6'11" and 275 lbs. people buy guns just in case someone like him wants to fight. I'm not someone who thinks fighting is a big deal, but when you are as big as him fighting is a huge deal. Seriously, what is the conversation if a random 6'11" 275 pound man gets shot after he tries to fight an average size guy? I'm willing to bet a lot of people would call that justified. I'm 215 lbs., pretty strong, and have done judo and jiu jitsu, and fighting somoene the size of Okafor would be a terrible idea for me. He can't be out here fighting people in the street. Greggulator
One of my favorite recent blurbs about Okafor is how he was carded and denied service at a bar in Philly called Misconduct Tavern. This place is a gastropub known for craft beers and fries with aoili and a jukebox that has a lot of Pixies. I've been there a bunch of times. My friend had his birthday party there. It's not a place I would think Okafor and other random Sixers would head to. He had the gun pulled on him outside of some dipshit nightclub in Old City, which is more of a frat boy hangout but does have its share of nightclub brawls gone awry that end in car windows being kicked out with occasional firearms usage. But Misconduct? Like, this dude wants to get a venison burger paired with a fruit scented microbrew? WTF?

Infinit
I don't understand why the Sixers wouldn't have a chaperone/big brother for him. If you are 275 lbs. punching someone in the head could very easily kill them. I think people watch boxing/MMA and TV/movies and think that people can take all types of head trauma and be OK. Those people are either trained professionals or actors, most people would go down and go down hard after a clean shot to the face.  The reason the 76ers don't have a chaperone/big brother for him is the total combined age of that entire team is 24. Jrag
I don't understand some of the Kobe haters, man . Â Kobe Bryant is playing awful basketball and you're..... mad about it? Â Shouldn't we be appreciating this moment? Â I'm all in for the extended Kobe retirement tour. Â If you're willing to put a coach out there who is actively trying to lose basketball games* then you might as well let Kobe Bryant do whatever TF he wants. Â Â Â *Byron Scott played a front court of Kobe, Nick Young, and Brandon Bass for about 8 minutes last night. LOL.

sabremike
Okafor suspended by the Sixers for 2 games. Of course I'm at MSG tonight and as much as I'd enjoy the Knicks winning a rout I feel gypped that I won't see one of the only two players on the Sixers worth watching.
