September 12, 201511 yr 97) BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK (John Sturges, 1955) 106 Points (4 votes - Highest Vote: #35 caley) IMDB ROTTEN TOMATOES (97%) WIKI Note from Rippa - Our first 4 vote movie This movie is badasssss. Spencer Tracy as a war vet with a bad arm who comes back to town to meet with someone, only to be menaced by evil smalltown hoods lead by Lee Marvin and Ernest Borgnine! Oh yeah, you need to see this 96) ON DANGEROUS GROUND (Nicholas Ray, 1951) 107 Points (2 votes - Highest Vote: #29 caley) IMDB ROTTEN TOMATOES (100%) WIKI Note From Rippa - No Google - I am not looking for the Steven Seagal movie The first half of this is so awesome, with Robert Ryan as this cold-blooded cop who gets in trouble and sent away for a while. The second half not as much when it becomes tough, unforgiving man is turned around by love of a good woman it's still good, but not as good as the first bit. 93) ELEVATOR TO THE GALLOWS (Ascenseur pour l'échafaud) (Louis Malle, 1958) 111 Points (4 votes - Highest Vote: #54 jae) IMDB ROTTEN TOMATOES (92%) WIKI Had this at #70. It's defiantly cool (That's 'defiant' not 'definite', I'm not autocorrecting here!) but the story, such as it is, leaves me a little cold. 92) THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY (Alfred Hitchcock, 1955) 111 Points (2 votes - Highest Vote: #32 caley) IMDB ROTTEN TOMATOES (90%) WIKI Weirdo Hitchcock with a dead body that's played for laughs, rather than chills.

This one was a lot of fun with Alistair Sims in a non-Scrooge role. 89) THE THREE FACES OF EVE (Nunnally Johnson, 1957) 118 Points (2 votes - Highest Vote: #24 Tim Evans) IMDB ROTTEN TOMATOES (93%) WIKI Had this at #60. It was a little over-the-top, but an extraordinary lead performance by Joanne Woodward. 88) FLOATING WEEDS (Ukikusa) (Yasujirô Ozu, 1959) 120 Points (3 votes - Highest Vote: #33 caley) IMDB ROTTEN TOMATOES (95%) WIKI Everything that I've voted for I've not been surprised at being higher because of various reasons, but this is the first one I was surprised to see drop so early. A great, beautiful human drama about a traveling drama group.
