JRGoldman Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Man, Kit Harrington must have the worst agent. The only gigs he can get on the off season are projects like Pompeii. Seventh Son, and the Silent Hill sequel? At this rate, we are going to get a sweet opposites attract buddy cop movie with Kit and his North American equivalent: Taylor Kitsch. If I knew how to work the internet, there would be a gif of the millions of dollars right here.
RIPPA Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 We were talking about this a few pages back http://youtu.be/1HVQB-20A6o What we all missed is that Jared Leto would like his Oscar now too 2
J.T. Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Dear Academy, Make it easy on yourself. Just melt down the statues you were going to hand out for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor, make one huge statue out of the molten gold, and hand it over to the cast and crew of Dallas Buyers Club at the beginning of the awards ceremony. Respectfully Yours, JT
Tabe Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Went to this one last night: Jobs - I know it's been trashed in a lot of reviews but I liked this a lot. Ashton Kutcher is really good as Jobs - they really nailed the look of pretty much every character in the movie other than Woz being a little iffy - and the movie itself is good. There's a LOT of material to cover - and that's even with the movie cutting itself off at 1997, ignoring the iPod/Pixar years - and so a few things get frustratingly little coverage, like Jobs' relationship with his daughter and how he met/married his wife. They do a good job of conveying that Jobs was an asshole but could have done even more in that area. All in all, while I really think this should have been a miniseries to allow for more room to breathe and greater depth, I liked the movie a lot as did my wife. I must say I'm eager to see how Aaron Sorkin's movie adaptation of the Isaacson bio turns out...

Here's a link to Firstshowing.net that has the Apple trailer embedded in it. http://www.firstshowing.net/2013/matthew-mcconaughey-fights-hiv-in-first-dallas-buyers-club-trailer/
jaedmc Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 That's odd. I watched it just fine a few hours ago....unless.... hey where am I?
Ultimo The Great Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 This looks great, but I'm very concerned the name "Zac Efron" somehow has top billing. Watch The Paperboy, he's surprisingly good.
Elsalvajeloco Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Forget Efron for a minute. Getaway, which comes out Friday, has Ethan Hawke teaming up with Selena Gomez to take down Jon "DID THE CHECK CLEAR?" Voight. Not surprisingly, it currently has 0% on Rotten Tomatoes with six reviews at the moment.
Burgundy LaRue Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Update: that's 19 rotten reviews for Getaway, for a 0% positive rating. How is that possible?
J.T. Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 And the One Direction movie is at 71%. I SMELL A CONSPIRACY~!
odessasteps Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Not sure to put this but on jonah keri's podcast, matt mira said they did a Nerdist bowling episode with the wotld's end guys and since they needed a 4th, they got Steve Jones from the sex pistols.
Fat Spanish Waiter Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Is that the least interesting post ever?
Burgundy LaRue Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Getaway is now sitting at 2% for positive reviews. 1 out of a possible 60 so far. That guy in Toronto is so getting kicked out of the Movie Review Club.
Elsalvajeloco Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 "Don't try to define me!" Are we in the year 1995?
Elsalvajeloco Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 In one of the more head-scratching decisions, Brad Furman might replace Oscar Isaac (who dropped out) with JOHN LEGUIZAMO in The Ballad of Pablo Escobar. Also, Aaron Paul and Sigourney Weaver are going to be in Ridley Scott's Exodus.
driver Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Larry The Cable Guy is in Madea's Christmas, which means Larry and Tyler Perry in the same movie is a sign of the apocalypse,
Elsalvajeloco Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 I am not saying that I would want a theater fire to happen but... 1
EVA Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 These desperate YA cash grabs get worse and worse. 1
Burgundy LaRue Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 That looks. . .really dull. They'll have to step up the promotion to pull in the big bucks.
EVA Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 So they've finally cast that fucking 50 SHADES OF GREY movie. It's Charlie Hunnam's Terrible Accent and someone called Dakota Johnson, who I've never seen in anything (and I guess I won't see her in anything in this either *rimshot*).

You do realize that's Don Johnson's daughter?
EVA Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 I guess not. Even better. Now I get to watch this while imagining Don Johnson having a breakdown like George C. Scott in HARDCORE. 3
odessasteps Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Or Bernie Kosar when he found out his daughter did/does porn.
Elsalvajeloco Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Or Bernie Kosar when he found out his daughter did/does porn. This is usually when I pull out a Montana Fishburne ass pimple joke, but I like Larry's work too much.
