Grand Theft Auto V Talk.

Jumped into Trevor just as he was being kicked out of a Casino, and he was yelling "show me where it says you have to wear pants on the gaming floor!".

Played my first round of Golf as Franklin*. Finished to par. Checked the scores online and the only DVDVR crew member with a score (on PS3) was Gonzalez, who shot a 48. So, Gonzalez sucks at golf. Street races are a piece of piss if you use Franklin's special ability at the start, because your top speed when in slow motion is much higher than it is at normal play speed. That first street race you all took six attempts on, I won it first time. Although I did get to level 7 in GTA4 online basically through winning races**. I only got a PS3 in May, and only started playing GTA4 online after completing the story, so that's, like two or three months of online play. I'm a much better driver than a shooter (did get the kill a rockstar trophy though). Fighting missions in GTA5 were really hard until I worked out how to change the tiny dot into a proper crosshair.

* I've maxed out Trevor & Michael's strength by playing tennis. Franklin can't play tennis. He has the lowest strength of the three guys in the crew, despite having the most muscular body.

** Speaking of which, basically everyone in my PS3 friends list is people I met in GTA 4 online. I could recruit them to the DVDVR crew if you want a couple of ringers (I've got a couple of headshot guys).

Spent like 30 minutes or so playing darts with 2 women last night. There was a tip saying that my aim would get better the more I played, didn't notice anything but had a ton of fun.

Acquired the Stun Gun through a mission so the next 1.5 hours of my life were spent doing drive-by-tazering to people and wild life. Chased a cougar on my Sanchez for like 3 minutes and kept missing with the stun gun until the dumb beast run head first into a train.

Man. Huffing fumes as Trevor makes you wake up in random places on the map. It put me right next to a convoy I needed to attack. Good times.

I wish flying was as unrealistically easy as it was in the saints row games sometimes, but I do alright. Spoiled by VTOL.

Got Trevor looking like the worlds most inbred Hulkamaniac next to Evad Sullivan.

Whooo

I played a round of golf on PS3 a while ago so it should be uploaded. It was a shitty game by me though sine I triple bogeyed a hole.

My first round (on the 360) was a 7 over par as Michael.  There was definitely a bit of a learning curve.  I think I was 9 over for the first 6 holes (including a triple bogey on one) and finish with par-birdie-birdie.  Maybe the club only uploads scores after you have joined and not previous ones.

I'm sooo looking forward to some DVDVR golf/tennis/dart tournaments.

Hey guys, quick question as when I Google all I get is news about a bug with your cars.

Not sure if its related to the above, but I bought a car (not too expensive so no problem) from the Internet, and it was in my garage, I took it for a spin, got a call from Franklin, which resulted in me switching to him, when I was Michael after the mission, I couldn't see the car anywhere and its not in the garage it was in originally.

What happens to cars you buy if you ditch them for any reason, are they gone for good?

For those that already did the Blitz Play mission:

During the setup I must have missed (or the game plainly didn't inform me) where the heist was suppose to happen, so I parked the get away vehicle about 3-4 miles from the actual location. So after all the craziness, I just took a chill 5 minute drive through the city. So anti-climatic.

Yeah, if you do a heist make sure to put a marker on the place you'll be robbing after you do the "Scope out the place" mission so you'll know where to getaway cars.

But on that particular mission, is there a scope out thing? I just re-watched the cutscene on youtube and still don't get it.

Plus you're on the getaway vehicle for a minute and you're automatically switched to another character, weird mission.

There's some kind of bug - Rockstar has warned people not to rely on garages until it's fixed.

Golf was a bitch for the first 4-5 holes, I kept swinging the controller stick with my finger, until it just slipped and I noticed that you only need to push down once and it will go down automatically and then push up once to hit the ball.

Started hitting some pars and birdies after that, but still finished 5 above par for the overall course. Then I assaulted a bunch of people with my new golf club. Yay!

Yeah, the swing isn't a full on analog one like Tiger Woods.  That threw me off a bit, too.  The golf is pretty bare bones, but still pretty incredible for being just a side activity.  I like the tennis a lot too.

The little details on this game are pretty amazing.  I rode a bike for a while with Michael and it's cool how his shirt gets sweaty.  Also he was wearing flip-flops and they actually came off his feet as he walked.

Ready to fall down the rabbit hole?

GTA V includes some weird, still-unsolved conspiracy involving aliens, the FIB, and Mt. Chilliad:

People are worried about golf and darts when there is a fucking conspiracy to uncover!!!!  I'm too lazy to do it myself.  I'll wait for the youtube videos.

Fun little moment from playing last night.

I start up as Michael, who is exiting a motel saying "I can't do it".  I notice a question mark on the map, so I go to it.  It's Tonya, Franklin's crackhead neighbor (aunt?).  She is trying to entice Michael to pay for her "services", so I say what the hell and start honking the horn.  Some random dude is walking by and starts yelling at me for honking at him and goes to pull me out, so I gun the car and run him over.  Apparently, the dude was in a gang because a minute later (after Tonya has run off while calling me a crazy cracker) his buddies come up and drive by on me.  After getting out of the hospital, Michael says "I gotta quit drinking".

Even the random little encounters or roaming almost turn into full story moments.  This really has raised the bar for open world games.
