Dolfan in NYC Posted June 2, 2015 Author Posted June 2, 2015 Steve Cishek and his $6.65m salary have been demoted to AA Jacksonville - who have an awesome logo, btw. AJ Ramos gets closing duties.
Craig H Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 I love Lloyd McClendon: http://deadspin.com/lloyd-mcclendon-gets-ejected-goes-bezerk-receives-sta-1708637787?utm_source=recirculation&utm_medium=recirculation&utm_campaign=wednesdayAM I lost it when he ran all the way over to third to bitch some more. This may top the time he stole first base, and that video is also in the link above.
hammerva Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Wait he is actually managing in the majors? I would think that disaster in Pittsburgh would have been enough to stay clear of that guy
Tabe Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Wait he is actually managing in the majors? I would think that disaster in Pittsburgh would have been enough to stay clear of that guyIt's Seattle, that's how/why. 1
RIPPA Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Speaking of Seattle Ms aquire Mark Trumbo from the D-backs
hammerva Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Nice to see that Jared Lorenzen was able to find a 2nd sport after playing for the Giants 2
pipGofern Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Wait he is actually managing in the majors? I would think that disaster in Pittsburgh would have been enough to stay clear of that guyIt's Seattle, that's how/why. To be fair, not even John McGraw would've been able to finish .500 with those horrendous teams the Bucs assembled at the time. Derek Bell and "Operation Shutdown" - Need I really say any more? Glad to see the current Pirates are FINALLY looking like the team we thought they were going to be coming into the season. Usually West Coast trips are a death march for them so coming out of the last one in 2nd place and trimming 3 games off the Cards' lead is highly encouraging. Of course, everybody is banking on the Cardinals cooling off sooner or later yet I'm 110% convinced the Pirates could win 109 games and the Cardinals would use their devil magic to win 110. 1
Tabe Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 I'm pretty sure John McGraw would've whipped Derek Bell's ass. 2
Tabe Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 FYI, my phone initially had "enjoyed" in place of "whipped". 2
ChesterCopperpot Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 A fan was hit by a broken bat at Fenway tonight and it's now been reported she has life threatening injuries. There was a lot of blood apparently. Damn
Joe Lucia Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 There are a couple of pics in the Getty database that are a bit graphic. Yeah...lots of blood.
RIPPA Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Astros call up SS Carlos Correa (Top 5 prospect via everyone's list). He will become the youngest player in the majors. So yes... Addison Russell's run as youngest player lasted like 6 weeks.
The Man Known as Dan Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 For what it's worth, I view Correa as the best prospect in baseball. Just an amazing talent. But like Russell, this felt real early. Then again, Russell has been a 1 WAR player so far as a Cub. The Astros were a team I thought could be dangerous this year, but I didn't think he'd be this dangerous this fast.
Joe Lucia Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 They also called up Vincent Velasquez to replace Fausto Hernandez in the rotation. This is getting fun.
Craig H Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 I'm starting see/hear rumblings that the Cubs traded for Papelbon. Nothing else as of yet.
RIPPA Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Speaking of terrible closers Guy from Chicago Sun Times says Cubs are close to signing Rafael Soriano UPDATE! - Cubs announce the signing It's a minor league deal. Yeah... so much to laugh at here
BillThompson Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 *shrug* I'm cool with this. Same, it's a minor league deal and he's being brought in to add bullpen depth. If he works out that's great; if he doesn't then it was a risk with very minimal damage.
RIPPA Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Well when he gets called up - it will be a prorated $4.1 million deal with $4 million in incentives (based on appearances and games finished) And if you saying "minimal damage" - you clearly didn't watch him try to close out games for the Nats during the stretch run last year
BillThompson Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 More than likely he won't be closing for the Cubs. It's still Rondon's job right now, but if anything I think they are positioning either Strop or Motte to take over that role if Rondon continues to struggle.
