Smackdown Spoilers for 4/23/15

Recommended Posts

* SmackDown kicks off with an in-ring promo from Seth Rollins. Rollins says on Sunday he won’t need J&J security nor Kane as a gatekeeper. Kane interrupts. The two exchange words.

Rollins brings up the fact that Kane lost to Cena on Monday’s RAW. Kane then suggested that since he laid down for Seth, it’s time for Seth to return the favor. This leads to a match between the two.

* Seth Rollins vs. Kane in a non-title match ended in a no-contest. Kane tries to get Rollins to lay down for him but then reveals that he was just messing around with him. Kane then announces Dean Ambrose vs. Rollins will take place instead. As Ambrose makes his way down the ramp, Luke Harper comes out and the two brawl. Ambrose loses the upper hand until Roman Reigns makes the save.

* Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins & Luke Harper is announced for later tonight.

* Ryback vs. Rusev was hyped for tonight.

* Neville & Dolph Ziggler defeated Bad News Barrett & Sheamus. Prior to the match, Sheamus cuts a promo on Neville and Ziggler’s size.

* Bray Wyatt promo is shown.

* Naomi defeated Natalya via the Rearview.

* The Prime Time Players cut a promo on Cesaro and Kidd.

* Ryback defeated Rusev by DQ. Rusev was disqualified for using a chain. After the match, Rusev used the chain to apply The Accolade on Ryback.

* Backstage segment with J&J Security, Luke Harper and Seth Rollins. Harper ends up warning Rollins to not get in his way.

* Kofi Kingston (w/Big E, Xavier Woods) defeated Cesaro (w/Tyson Kidd). Before the match, New Day cuts a promo.

* Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose defeated Seth Rollins and Luke Harper. Reigns speared Rollins and pinned him to win the match. This concluded tonight’s taping.

Reigns speared Rollins and pinned him to win the match

So your world champion drops a fall in an impromptu tag match going in to a PPV where he defends against a guy not even in said tag match. That...yeah.

Am I the only one that appreciates spoilers that don't have some fool's opinions?  It's nice having "Just the facts, ma'am".

Sounds like a fun show, especially the main event.  Though the Neville/Ziggler tag sounds promising, have a feeling Dolph got the pin.

Prior to the match, Sheamus cuts a promo on Neville and Ziggler’s size.

I wonder if you can see Vince's mouth move when Sheamus speaks.

Now, we know why Sheamus is so angry upon his return. You would be too if Vince's hand was up your ass.

Maybe I'm weird, but I will definitely be going out of my way to see Kofi/Cesaro. Those two always have good chemistry and the face/heel reversal is interesting.

Main sounds interesting too. 2/3 of the classic Shield/Wyatt matches re-arranged in a way that you wouldn't immediately notice.

Unless I missed something they didn't tie Harper taking Ambrose out at Mania into the cash in of Rollins since Ambrose has always said he'd stop that. All you had to do was say Rollins hired Harper to take him out. Is this the first time Ambrose has faced Rollins since their feud ended? It's just a thrown together match where Ambrose's real beef is with Harper.

Also the guy who just won the world title, and gets 50 minutes of tv time is doing jobs for the guy they were too chicken shit to put the belt on. This Fucking Company

It's long-term booking and great.

1) Seth's not a deserving champion anyways. He's a total slimebag who stole the title. He wins when he tilts the odds in his favor by using The Authority and his various power plays and schemes. He also has hired lackeys. He shouldn't be a strong champion, at least not in the ring. He's a strong champion but plays the game.

2) If Seth gets past Orton (and he will) AND if Roman gets past Show (he will), then that leaves Rollins and Reigns. They didn't want to get right into that because you have to space it out and maybe get to a three-way with Brock. But now Roman has bragging rights over the champ when the match is fair and Seth's not cashing in his briefcase in the middle of an epic battle. When the odds are even, Roman wins. But if Seth finds a way to tilt the odds... that's what Roman has to overcome.

If the writing was more cohesive, it would clearly show Reigns slowly dismantling The Authority and eventually making his way to Rollins.  Take out the physical force that is Big Show, remove the still-a-demon entity in Kane (of course, Kane is currently a wild card).  J&J gets pushed to the side quickly.  You would have a couple of avenues to take this way--either Roman takes on HHH as the last hurdle to get his hands on Rollins, or Roman turns heel with HHH and Steph deciding they don't want to deal with Rollins anymore.  Have Reigns just about to wring Rollins' neck. . .and THEN--

"Ladies and gentlemen. . .THE BEAST IS BACK FOR HIS TITLE!"

Instant triple threat for Summer Slam.

Having the world champ drop a fall to a guy he's not even going to be wrestling in the main event of the up coming ppv is great booking? Having Ambrose and Rollins face each other for the first time in 6 months with no build is great booking? Missing an opportunity to tie Harper taking out Ambrose with Rollins and Ambrose's history was great booking? The standards must be pretty fucking low these days.

Reigns has had bragging rights over Rollins going back to last year when he beat him in a random Raw match before Ambrose came back from being taken out by Rollins(in yet another example of "great booking"). Rollins, HHH, Steph, Kane and Show all getting tons of mic time make the Authority the most revolting heel stable of all time for me. Jaime Noble is the only redeeming thing about the entire act.

Neville/Dolph tag was okay. Poor BNB - took a nasty bump on the floor and jobbed too. PTPs skit was a thing. TE videos were the usual embarrassments that really made me wonder just why WWE can't get higher ad rates and rights fees... Nattie-Naomi was fun and Ryback-Rusev had its moments too. I loved all the hype they did for Cena-Rusev. Between the Rusev promo and Ryback beating, that was good enough - but then they did the POWER VS. RESILIENCY video package - damn! That should be the main event. Main event was a ton of fun. If they'd just done this on Raw, they'd have Dean back in the hunt as a main event-level act.

How long was that Cesaro/Kofi match in comparison to the New Day promo? Inquiring minds need to know.

I tuned out of the middle of the main event and it seemed to jump in heat, wonder what happened. Maybe a slow build. Maybe the start was just boring.

At least Sheamus was a proper dick and they gave Neville some support.

Ambrose got a monster pop coming out to face Seth at the start of the show. It's clear the fans love that feud and never wanted to see it end the way it did. Yeah well fuck all of that here's 50 minutes a show dedicated to setting up Rollins/Kane.
