I could very well be alone here, but I liked Kenzo's faux-patriotic gimmick in WWE.

 

You are not alone.  They should've put the US title on Suzuki.

 

He did have a Tag title run, though.  I seem to recall it being pretty horrible.

Kenzo got pretty watchable after he jumped to AAA. Didn't hurt that he found a BOATLOAD of charisma somewhere.

Smackdown in 2004 was such a chore to get through with guys like Suzuki, Rene Dupree, Luther Reigns, Carlito, Billy Gunn, the Bashams and others. It felt like you genuinely achieved something when you sat through the entire 2 hours. Kind of like finishing your greens, except this wasn't particularly good for you.

 

And yet... I look back on that era fondly.

His "El Aguila Imperial" schtick was fantastic.

The Rougeau's did the faux-patriot gimmick better.
