JonnyLaw Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 I think DB would have done worse if he wasn't injured. A filler-feud with Kane before being fed to Brock? It would be interesting to see the reaction if the Summerslam match happened exactly the same, except with Bryan instead of Cena. I don't think it gets nearly as much hype, and I think there could be a very real backlash against Brock if fans saw it as 18 seconds 2.0. Conversely, I don't think Brock's year seems as strong.
Cristobal Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 I like how the voting totals in Bryan/Lesnar went Shine -> Heat -> Comeback -> Finish 4
DylanWaco Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Cool to see some really close match ups this round. I doubt Cesaro could catch back up with Neville (though he's only eight down at this point), but I could see Suzuki/Ibushi and Okada/Ultimo going either way by tomorrow morning.
RIPPA Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 I am going to post all of today's matchups and then close the current polls. So y'all have until then.
RIPPA Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 I have one more match - so figure 15 minutes left to vote
RIPPA Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 Stupid ties I expect a WWE sweep today and for me to be sad Polls are open - 48 HOUR WINDOW
goc Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I may or may not have thrown a vote at Suzuki at 10:00 AM seeing it would cause a tie... 1
RIPPA Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 Eventually folks will realize that there are benefits to not racing to cast a vote
RIPPA Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 Since I am not running the Sweet Sixteen till Monday - I will leave these polls open till Noon EST I don't know how many more votes are out there but there are enough close ones to wait
DylanWaco Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Couple of brutal match ups lining up for next round. The worst is going to be deciding whether or not to abstain in Neville v. Rollins or vote against the lesser evil.
Matt D Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 We have to see where I am in the rankings after today to see how deep a hatchet job I will be inclined to try to do with Rollins. Wait, is this thing on?
RIPPA Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 I still haven't forgiven you for Ultimo Guerrero
The Man Known as Dan Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 We have to see where I am in the rankings after today to see how deep a hatchet job I will be inclined to try to do with Rollins. Wait, is this thing on? Dont worry about it, I think you picking Ambrose in the final 4 is going to bury you.
Matt D Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Yeah, man, alternatively, I can try to put Piranisi right in the path of RIPPA for revenge, so at least I feel better. He led me astray. Thankfully, he responds much like animated rabbits to easy traps.
CSC Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Cavinario & Honma winning. Gulak tied with Rippa being the deciding vote. SOMEBODY CLOSE THE DAMN POLLS!
Matt D Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 I may have not seen any Nakamura in the voting period before making my poll. That said, my bigger problem was that I severely overestimated people's love for Ambrose. It's a very weak WWE year, which has produced some interesting results. I thought that'd help Ambrose regardless, but Nakamura's the guy who (with Honma) defies the NJPW fan backlash. It should be noted that even if it costs me a few points, I'm happy that Cavernario might move on.

You also are underplaying Harper, who I am starting to wonder is the one dark horse nobody really played into. I actually think he beats Nakamura now.
Matt D Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 I honestly think Virus had a better year than Harper did (and a better one than Cavernario too, but ah well). No one watches enough Virus though. That's the problem. The two guys that I did write ups on coming into this were Harper and Rush, so I'm high on both of them. I'm just not sure Harper was given the chance to have the output. He disappeared for months of the period. I voted for Gulak in the last few hours too so that might have been a shot in my foot, but it was the just decision.
DylanWaco Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Several false idols were destroyed today. It was a good day.
RIPPA Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 The Breakdown of the Sweet Sixteen WWE - 7 New Japan - 5 Lucha - 2 Indy - 2 (I counted AJ Styles as New Japan)
JRGoldman Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 hahahahahaah fuck Dolph Ziggler. This day rules. 2
NikoBaltimore Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 I'm very happy with the results. While there's some guys I would have liked to advance, I'm not quite sad they lost. It's pretty cool to see the ultimate underdog Honma beat Lesnar. Looking at the sweet 16 he's not done by any means in a matchup against Rusev. Poor guy can't catch a break, but there's another underdog challenge. For a random draw he sure got some interesting matchups. Also looking forward to Neville/Rollins, but that's going to be tough to vote on. It is nice to see more varied representation this year.
