Dolfan in NYC Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Offseason thread had 1000 posts. Perfect. Now, the real fun begins! Pitchers and catchers report today! Also, nothing makes me happier than seeing Boston has spent $95,000,000 on this: Well, maybe that the Yankees spent $300,000,000 on this: Welcome back baseball!
Joe Lucia Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I love everyone losing their shit about Pablo when all the other pics of him taken today look fine. Hell, a Giants fan I know said he looked a bit skinner than usual
The Man Known as Dan Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 He's playing in Boston, that will be a thing much more talked about it because of that and that alone. Gotta have Sox stories!
TimLivingston Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 My friend pointed this out to me today after that pic got circulated. I'm with Joe. I think he's doing fine with the weight stuff.
piranesi Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Gassed already. But seriously guys, everyone breaks in their new mitt by strapping it to their abdomen nowadays so you can't really tell what's what until that part is done.
RIPPA Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Kenley Jansen will miss 8-12 weeks due to surgery on his foot. So Mid-April at earliest. Could be Mid-May at latest. God - I will wet myself if the Dodgers now give K-Rod the $10 million he wants
Joe Lucia Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Sad thing is, that'll be a better investment than Brian Wilson's $10 million last year.
hammerva Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Was looking at Deadspin and found this gem showing some old Houston Astros programs from the 60's. Really funny and shows how much you could get away with that day: http://deadspin.com/1960s-astros-programs-were-weird-1686501644 My favorite: 1
EdA Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 God if that was the Pirates at least there would be a Doc Ellis joke.
JCM Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I'm going to need a bottle of that to get through the year as a Reds fan. At least we get the All Star Game this year. I couldn't tell if that was Sandavol or Jameis Winston.
Tabe Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 The Tigers have announced that Miggy's rehab from surgery is going well and they expect him in the lineup Opening Day. That's great news, Tigers fans.
Craig H Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 So the Diamondbacks signed a $1 BILLION TV deal. What the fucking fuck?
Joe Lucia Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 It's the new market for local MLB TV deals. I believe it's now nine teams in the midst of billion dollar local deals.
Tabe Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 It's the new market for local MLB TV deals. I believe it's now nine teams in the midst of billion dollar local deals.Yeah, welcome to the era of locking up live sports to keep people tied to cable.
RIPPA Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Jurickson Profar had shoulder surgery AGAIN (this time for a torn labrum) and will most likely miss his second straight season
Serious Darius Bagfelt Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Jurickson Profar had shoulder surgery AGAIN (this time for a torn labrum) and will most likely miss his second straight season Yesterdays number 1 overall prospect is todays injury plagued washout
EdA Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 So, Rosenthal is reporting that the 3 changes to speed up the game to be announced today will be: Managers must challenge replays from dugout. Batters must keep one foot in box unless an established exception occurs. Play to resume promptly once broadcast returns from commercial break.
muhammedboehm Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Has there been any talk of what the penalty will be?
EdA Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Has there been any talk of what the penalty will be? Haven't heard yet. Generally, with the second the ump will tell the pitcher to pitch and call a strike - at least that's how they work it in HS ball with that rule. With the third I guess an automatic ball on the pitcher? And I guess with the first the umps would just not accept the challenge if the manager attempts to do the "kill time wait for the video guy thumps up/down" dealie they did last year. The Commish is supposed to announce the details today.
Kuetsar Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Yeah, these aren't going to work for shit. . .
Craig H Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 The penalty will be monetary in nature. No called balls or strikes.
Tabe Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Jurickson Profar had shoulder surgery AGAIN (this time for a torn labrum) and will most likely miss his second straight seasonMinor correction - he hasn't had the surgery yet. It's scheduled for Monday.Jurickson was a lot of fun to watch in Spokane. Major league-ready defensively as a shortstop at 17? Unreal. Sucks to see him having so many injuries.
Tabe Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 So, Rosenthal is reporting that the 3 changes to speed up the game to be announced today will be: Managers must challenge replays from dugout. Batters must keep one foot in box unless an established exception occurs. Play to resume promptly once broadcast returns from commercial break. These three changes will have the combined effect of eliminating approximately 7.3 seconds from games.
piranesi Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Can we just have them go back to playing at 18 frames per second already?
