FEBRUARY 2015 WRESTLING DISCUSSION

Recommended Posts

If this is indeed a case of a vindictive fiance who found nudes of a strange woman and went nuts with a social media posting spree, then one could potentially argue that whether he was in the wrong or not for having those photos on his phone, Seth Rollins was the victim of a crime, and it would not look good for WWE to fire someone for being the victim of what is now a prosecutable offense in at least one state, possibly more.

We can joke about it but, depending on the state, "revenge porn" (i.e you break up then post nude pics or sex videos of your spouse all over the place without their permission) can be an actual crime. You can go to prison for it. Some guy in Britain got  serious jail time for doing it to his ex.

Question: Did Bam Bam Bigelow have great fat guy gear, or the greatest fat guy gear of all time?

I think it's either Bigelow or the Big Boss Man during his first WWF run.

Ahkeem/One Man Gang is right up there with them for fat guy gear. Bigelow gets the win though just for all the flames. I mean even with the head tattoo, he could have easily just worn generic black (I think he did at the start of his career). The fire stuff helped him stand out especially with all the agile stuff he was doing at the time for a guy his size.

Darren Young made some negative comments about WWE touring countries that are anti woman and anti gay on twitter.  He then deleted them and started tweeting about losing his freedom of speech.  Ignorance of what freedom of speech means aside, this is a dicey situation for WWE.  Obviously they don't want employees shit talking the company on social media.  They also don't want the reputation of silencing gay employees who are speaking out on issues that impact them.

On top of that, and the whole Rollins kerfluffle, Chyna claimed Triple H punched her when they broke up on Vince Russo's podcast.

Rough week for the PR people.

He also brought up the fact that the country they are touring in treat women like shit. I can get why the company and fans would ignore that part.

Sexist fucks.

And the whole place is built by slave labor.  Seriously, wonderful place to tour, guys.

Can guys object on moral grounds and ask to say off tours of say like a place like the Middle East or does the murky Independent contractor trump that and they would have no choice but to go. The WWE can claim they kept Young off the tour for "his own safety", but it's not like people are clamoring for him here or there.

Most places have either went 'it's just black John Cena' or gay related insults.

Not to mention that a lot of stars have done the No H8 campaign.

I know guys could turn down the Tribute to the Troops shows when they went to FOBs.

I'm guessing a lot of guys wouldn't do that since it could lead to "unofficial" punishments (i.e., hard to prove or dispute).  Guys not getting main event pushes would probably worry they'd end up without a push or jobbing to Fandango.  Especially since a lot of guys probably feel that they're one sideways glare (from Vince) from getting that anyway.

I'm actually not on Young's side here.  Yeah, he has an entirely valid point, but implying his right to free speech is being violated is dumb and shows no understanding of what the right to free speech actually is.  .  Free speech doesn't mean you can publicly make your employer look bad.  It's fine if he disagrees with the company in private, it's fine if his complaints stay inside the company.  If you want to rip your employer publicly and your employer (understandably) won't allow that, quit then exercise your right to free speech.

Also, I feel bad for saying this, but I kinda want Seth Rollins to start using the small package driver again.... and rename it the "Overcompensating-for-Something Driver"

Van Dam did.  Got a lot of shit for it, as I recall.

I was about to bring that up.  RVD said "thanks guys, I'll stay home"! Then of course he was in the doghouse for it.
