The Natural
Bug upset in the men's singles at the Australian Open today. Six time and defending champion Novak Djokovic out in the second round beaten by world number 117 Denis Istomin in five sets. Last time Novak lost in the second round was Wimbledon 2008. Hopefully Andy Murray can take advantage of this. Famously Robin Soderling became the first person to beat Rafael Nadal at the 2009 French Open which meant Roger Federer didnt have to go through Nadal. Roger won the title that year. J.T.
Novak will also be watching the finals of the AU on television with Simona Halep, who got bounced in the first round in straight sets by USA's Shelby Rogers. Halep blames tendonitis in her left knee for the early exit.

J.T.
Coco Vandeweghe's Australian Open Destruction Tour marches on. First Kerber and now Muguruza. She's set to play Venus next. Yikes..
odessasteps
We need a ladies team of Coco and Alexandra Stevenson (or is she long retired).
Dewar
http://www.wtatennis.com/players/player/7338#results Alexandra only played 1 WTA tournament last season, and lost her first match. It was also the only tournament she won more than a grand, and is ranked in the 600s right now.
odessasteps
I presume there's another second generation female tennis player, but it was late wheni posted that.
J.T.
Venus and Serena are on track to play the Aussie final. Venus derailed the Vanderweghe engine of destruction in a grueling three set match. I haven't seen Serena'a match yet, but I imagine we're well on our way to a Williams sisters final.

ReiseReise
Federer in the final is great. Would be amazing if Nadal will be the opponent for him.
J.T.
What a great weekend for tennis! Two dream finals matches on tap. Normally I would be stoked for a William's sisters final, but Serena has bulldozed over Venus the last few times. Venus was all business in those last two sets against Coco, but Serena's serve is a whole 'nother dragon to slay. Nadal vs. Federer is going to be a war.
Death From Above
In fairness Serena just bulldozes everyone. Women's tennis is so very clearly Serena vs. The Field and I'd probably still bet Serena until there's a good reason not to.
Death From Above
When Federer hits a backhand and it just takes off like a laser beam, I imagine this is what being punched in the face by God would feel like.
J.T.
While it is awesome to see Federer win another slam and solidify his legacy, it is really disheartening to watch Rafa Nadal in freefall. Poor dude has to really wonder what he has to do in order to win another big one.
