offspring515 Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Agreed. That match seemed like it sucked ass while watching live. Rewatching later on I appreciated it quite a bit more. I don't know if it was my lack of interest in the build, the fact that I was convinced Brock had no chance to win or what but it's certainly better than I first thought.

I was at a bar watching it and everyone just kinda tuned out b/c it was assumed that Taker would win. Brock's win silenced about 300 people.
JonnyLaw Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 I remember thinking, "Wow, they're going to have Taker kick out of three F5s... Oh... Wait, what?!?" 2
piranesi Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 I feel like even though they ended up not capitalizing, making it a bad business move and we here tend to focus on that, years down the road it's still going to feel like a realistically satisfying moment. It's not like the legend of Brock Lesnar isn't going to resonate with wrestling fans years from now. He's going to remain this mythically destructive figure and ending the streak is a perfectly legit part of that storyline. 1
offspring515 Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 I remember thinking, "Wow, they're going to have Taker kick out of three F5s... Oh... Wait, what?!?" Yeah that was me too. I was saying to my cousin "god they're kinda killing the F5 as a finisher..." as the three count happened. Had 10 people over watching and the room legit went completely silent for 30 seconds. Finally broken by my Lesnar hating cousin mumbling "bullshit". 2
Brian Fowler Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 My friends Chad and Travis were talking a bit stunned when Chad suddenly turned to me and said "look at Fowler, he's speechless." Right before he hit the last F-5 I said something like "I'll laugh if this gets the pin." I was very wrong.
Stevie Ray Von Erich Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 I'm still convinced that the concussion came on the belly-to-belly out of the corner that Brock spiked Taker with early in the match, and the double-leg on the outside just furthered that damaged. I'm convinced an un-concussed Taker vs. Brock could be a lot of fun.
Casey Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Count me in as the minority that loved the ending of the Streak. Sure, I sat there in stunned silence for awhile, thought it was a botched finish, etc. But I've rewatched it a few times and that's easily one of the best moments on that show. It was like an anti-pop from the crowd, never seen anything like it before. It was memorable, and WWE needs more of that. I'm sure they'll just have Lesnar "pass that torch", in a sense, to Reigns anyway. Even if Reigns should be the one ending another kind of streak this year - Rusev's.
Jerry Hattrick Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 If Rusev had shown up a year earlier. Would undefeated U.S. champion ending the streak of Undertaker and winning the WHC had been a better result?
Brysynner Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 So has anyone contemplated that Vince is crazy enough to let Brock go to UFC with the WWE title. He's stated the title doesn't mean much to him, they've spent 3 months booking without it. What if Bryan gets his shot and fails. The fan favorite doesn't get his obvious moment in a swerve. Brock takes the belt to UFC to give Vince mainstream publicity he craves

I'm convinced an un-concussed Taker vs. Brock could be a lot of fun. Like their cell match from 2002? In 2015, even an un-concussed Taker has a dozen other injuries and limitations, though. So has anyone contemplated that Vince is crazy enough to let Brock go to UFC with the WWE title. He's stated the title doesn't mean much to him, they've spent 3 months booking without it. What if Bryan gets his shot and fails. The fan favorite doesn't get his obvious moment in a swerve. Brock takes the belt to UFC to give Vince mainstream publicity he craves It's not the recommended play here, but that could be really awesome with some kind of shoot-looking finish (like Brock no sells the yes lock by throwing Bryan off, then makes him tap with guillotine or another neck submission). The air being taken out of the crowd would rival Brock ending the streak, I think. Way too much risk to be practical, but it would make for a good kind of WTF moment.
Patrick B. Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 I remember thinking, "Wow, they're going to have Taker kick out of three F5s... Oh... Wait, what?!?" My exact thought at the time.

Chaos Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 If they end up backing out on the Reigns winning the Rumble thing, what do you do? I for some reason see him getting stuck in a six man tag that would cover a lot of blend-over feuds: Orton/Reigns/Ambrose vs. Rollins/Kane/Show
ivpvideos Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Let him win the ANDRE battle royale and get a sweet trophy 2
Dolfan in NYC Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 This is in Herald Square today. Possible Main Event spoiler:
Craig H Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Oh man...One can get a Nathan's hot dog and then get some cheesecake? I really need to visit NYC at some point. OH! The billboard. Right. 3
MORELOCK Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Would they really give the Rumble finish away like that? Smells fishy.
JonnyLaw Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Would anyone be surprised if they were priming the pump for a rowdy pro-Bryan, anti-everyone else crowd to get an even bigger pop when Bryan wins?
JCM Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Now that Brock has went badass tweener of sorts I really want a Brock/Rusev match at Mania. That win makes Rusev the top heel coming out of Mania for whoever has the belt. You got a potential Cena/Bryan rematch or the Shield triple threat that could be title matches. Cena/Reings works as well. I just don't think Brock/Reigns is going to work especially now that Brock is getting cheered. He makes Roman look like a little puppy in comparison.
Matt D Posted January 22, 2015 Author Posted January 22, 2015 Is there any match they could possibly put on with the roster that they currently have that would get more network buys and attention than Cena vs Sting in Sting's first match? I think that gets more than Sting vs HHH, Cena vs Taker, Bryan vs anyone. The only thing that might be close is a Sting/Taker tag match vs HHH and someone (maybe even Lesnar), but that doesn't quite do it.
Stay Gold Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Man, I used to work/study right by there. Wish I still was, to try and confirm. It does look a bit odd, but maybe I'm just in denial. EDIT: Oh, you took that photo. Oh man. Crazy. Not a fan of such a high profile spoiler this early into the Mania build. Maybe it doesn't mean anything.
JCM Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Rock vs Sting maybe if you count Rock as a part of the roster. I think Sting/Taker has more appeal to old school fans who've wanted that match for years. I honestly don't know if any match would move numbers that much in this day and age. Outside of 32 being a super card with both Rock and Austin wrestling. It should be pretty hard to fuck up this years show with the talent they have now with Bryan back. I can say I have very little interest in a Bray/Taker match especially when you factor in all of the silly bullshit angles that will take place to build it.
The Z Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Rock vs Sting maybe if you count Rock as a part of the roster. Oh yeah, the battle of the terribly executed Sharpshooters. 1
