glfpunk Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Ah the Cowboys. Beat a now obiviously not great anymore Seahawks team, beat a very well known not great Giants team, and suddenly they're winning the Superbowl again. Wake me when they win a playoff game. Well, they're consistent anyway. Dallas is winning games by controlling the clock, running the ball, and playing very balanced. It's funny, I'm up here in Philly working and the radio morons are going nuts. I swear they talk about the Cowboys more than they talk about the Eagles. They can't stand the fact that the Eagles are doing well and the Cowboys are too. Every day I drive in to work and flip on the radio (94.1) and these morons are constantly talking about the Cowboys and how they're not as good as their record when really if you look at both the teams, the games they've played, and their record, you'd probably come to the conclusion that the Eagles are the team that doesn't really belong with their record.
Gonzo Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 NFL suspends Da'Quan Bowers for use of PEDs. Guy has one sack and six tackles in six games. He's apparently taking the wrong stuff.
Brian Fowler Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Hey, maybe they were all that were keeping him employed.
Burgundy LaRue Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Plus - the having a GLARING need for a pass rusherExcept he's too small to rush the passer as a lineman and too slow to do it as a linebacker, which is why he dropped in the draft to begin with. That's one of the reasons Sam dropped in the draft.

That's one of the reasons Sam dropped in the draft. I like that Sam suddenly dropped four rounds in the draft because the NFL teams simultaneously noticed he was too small. EDIT: Also, that four-round drop was BEFORE the combines. It's almost as if all 32 teams had the same premonition that he would be too small to make it in the NFL. Or, you know... too gay. 2
RIPPA Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 And it's not like the Skins aren't paying Brian Orakpo $11.5 million to not get to the QB this year either 1

The Philly sports radio stations are godawful, really. And yeah, the Eagles aren't as good as their record, but then again, the NFC East as a whole is terrible and probably not as good as their record shows, as least as far as Philly and Dallas are concerned.
Brian Fowler Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 https://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/lions-cut-running-back-----and-send-him-home-from-london-152944265.html Hey, free trip to London, right?
Cristobal Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 2.5: Barcelona to London, because our infographic maker has no fucking clue where London is. (They have since fixed the graphic.) 4
Brian Fowler Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Wow. I'm a clueless American, and even I know England is the island thing there off the continent. 2

glfpunk Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 EDIT: Also, that four-round drop was BEFORE the combines. It's almost as if all 32 teams had the same premonition that he would be too small to make it in the NFL. Or, you know... too gay So are we going to completely discount the fact that he was signed to two NFL teams now at this point and wasn't good enough to keep on the practice squad? We're just going to completely ignore that? Still going to stick with "it's because he's gay" huh?
Niners Fan in CT Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 I do think he may have dropped in part because of the "distractions" he was supposed to bring but at this point it's clear that he's probably not an NFL player just as many of the dudes drafted in rounds 5-7 don't make it.
muhammedboehm Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 This might sound stupid but if its 8.5 hours (two planes) From ATL-Bal-England and 10 hours ATL to England why not do the same trip back?
Jerry Hattrick Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Couldn't the Michael Sam situation be both A: Certain teams not agreeing with his lifestyle, and B: The teams that did pick him up realized that he's not that good?
Jerry Hattrick Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 This might sound stupid but if its 8.5 hours (two planes) From ATL-Bal-England and 10 hours ATL to England why not do the same trip back? I may be wrong, but maybe Atlanta flights don't travel to England. Greyhound is notorious for pulling shit like this. Lima, Ohio to Jacksonville, FL isn't the same the other way around. Now as for the actual *why* they don't , I'm as clueless as the next person. Sorry for lack of a full answer.

I guess I should have kept reading. I more or less made the same point a couple of posts up.
glfpunk Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Teams will put up with a mountain of bullshit if they feel like the on the field results warrant it.
RIPPA Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 The reason Atlanta went through Baltimore is because that's where they played last Sunday They left straight after the game
muhammedboehm Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 The reason Atlanta went through Baltimore is because that's where they played last Sunday They left straight after the game But why not fly back that way and save an 1.5 travel time
RIPPA Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 The reason Atlanta went through Baltimore is because that's where they played last Sunday They left straight after the game But why not fly back that way and save an 1.5 travel time Because the graphic is wrong... again A London to Atlanta non-stop flight is only 8-9 hours - not the 10 the graphic claims (that is via info off of Google Flights - which pulled from almost all airlines doing that flight) So even if it takes 9 hours - the difference is not worth the hassle of another takeoff and landing
Serious Darius Bagfelt Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 I do think he may have dropped in part because of the "distractions" he was supposed to bring but at this point it's clear that he's probably not an NFL player just as many of the dudes drafted in rounds 5-7 don't make it. The distractions are what kept him from a lot of teams and I am sure some guys didnt want to drop him into some situations. Especially since a lot of NFL lockerooms are very difficult places.
RIPPA Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Zach Mettenberger is the new Titans starting QB
Pete Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 EDIT: Also, that four-round drop was BEFORE the combines. Not at all... my point was that he suddenly and mysteriously dropped four rounds immediately after he came out and before he even got to the combine. I'm not doubting that both the Rams and the Cowboys had perfectly valid football-related reasons to cut him.
