Matt D
How can we make talking about wrestling even more socially awkward? I know! Let's name the company TNA. Was that a Russo invention? I forget now. I remember the Jerry Jarrett book being worth reading though.

Kaptain Kayfabe
One of the more embarrassing moments of my work career: I am showing around a new female employee. Co-worker of mine from another department comes by and says "Did you watch any TNA last night or did you forget again?" I quickly try to cover by explaining that TNA is a wrestling promotion not... T&A.
Go2Sleep
I still maintain TNA was doomed from the beginning largely because it had a name that was impossible to take seriously. Not just the acronym, but what it stands for. It was so embarrasingly obvious they just wanted to name the company TNA because it made someone giggle and they would accept anything that remotely fit. Because, really, who the fuck would pick "Total Nonstop Action" as the first choice for the name of a wrestling company? The re-brand to TNA Wrestling was somehow more pathetic, as it was an obvious attempt at a non-juvenile makeover, but made it sound even more like a porno. Of course, that was after it was obvious the company was doomed for various other reasons.

Reed
Meltzer insisted on WOR that the Russo email was a major thing. It was just the total breakdown of trust and convinced them Dixie is/was totally inept and they couldn't continue dealing with her. Bauer mentioned on Pollock that even just a few weeks ago it was generally thought that the deal was theirs to lose, even if there was uncertainty around it. It's not just anti-Russo stuff here; he actually did kill this company with an email. Amazing.
Super Ape
Called it. Vince Russo now has two dead promotions by his hand on his resume (fuck what RD Reynolds says, Russo killed WCW and I'll die on that hill).
Chaos
Called it. Vince Russo now has two dead promotions by his hand on his resume (fuck what RD Reynolds says, Russo killed WCW and I'll die on that hill). I will always argue that Hulk Hogan being responsible for WCW's success is also responsible for its demise, so I say WCW began its slow death in 1994.

Russo was part of the firing squad, but trying to single out just who fired the killing bullet in THAT clusterfuck is a fool's errand.
Ultimo Necro
Spike TV are at this point the girlfriend of a serial cheater, for several years people were telling them it was going to end in tears, but Spike was all like "no, no, it WILL work out, just you wait and see, I can make him change". They bought them some fancy new toys, funded their crazy aspirations simply because they just wanted to make their relationship work. They paid for some new clothes, an image change, the works. But in the end, all that didnt matter, Spike were happy to just to have someone (even if it was shitty, shitty TNA) in their lives. Then said boyfriend is tagged all over Facebook in pictures with another woman, that woman being Vince Russo. Even Spike can no longer stand by them. To quote Beyonce, "TNA,everything you own is in a box to the left". You go Spike TV girl.

Reed
Why does SPIKE know or care about Vince Russo? The answer is that during Russo's official tenure in TNA, he repeatedly went against SPIKE TV's wishes to abide by their standards and practices. He basically ignored every request they made of him every time they made it. Things like "Male on Female violence" as just one example that I'd read about but there were many others. As far as Russo and Spike he pitched a rasslin sitcom to them years ago, and it was so stupid they laughed, and then he got Panda to offer to FINANCE IT 100% and they still wanted nothing to do with it. They liked D'Amore but they know exactly who, and WHAT, Russo is. Interesting post from Wrestling Classics, expanding on Russo-Spike problems. I'd much rather women thought I was watching T&A than TNA.
Reed
Judging by his erratic Twitter account, I think for the first time in his life Russo might finally be understanding that, yes, he is the problem and everyone else just isn't wrong after all. Reed
Meltzer did mention that Spike have been talking to some other wrestling companies about a potential spot. That's why I don't get the whole "Even if you don't like TNA this is bad for wrestling!" stuff. No it's not. TNA were basically blocking any new potential No. 2 from emerging. Now maybe Spike can give a spot and funding to a new company, one that won't be run by idiots.

TheVileOne
Not that I want to defend Russo, Carter, and TNA. But them disliking Russo for his booking and disobeying their standards and practices are a joke to me. They are Spike TV. They are responsible for some of the worst TV programming of all time that is raunchy, low class, and everything else. Did they have anything to say about the male on female violence that constantly happened in WWE under their watch? I imagine whatever stupid show Russo pitched was bad, but again...they produced RAISING THE ROOFS. Just saying, they are Spike TV. Hard for me to believe they should care or have a holier than thou attitude about Vince Russo. I find it easier to believe they just don't like Dixie Carter and find her incompetent. I mean, look at all the big names TNA brought in to move the needle. They are all gone, and the ratings are still pretty much the same. And with UFC gone, doesn't Impact still draw better numbers for them than Bellator?

In a Dixie Carter on a pole match which lasts three minutes has 17 ball shots and 12 run-ins and 16 heel turns and swerves. 12 run-ins to deliver 12 ball shots in somewhat chaotic succession, and some of them doing heel turns to chase the run-ins out of the ring -- only so they can then turn around and get in five extra ball shots. And then they topple the pole on him.
