AxB Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 How does whatever 'The Normal Heart' is get six nominations for the actors, and not get nominated as best show? I mean, if you had a terribly plotted, terribly shot show littered with continuity errors and with a story that made no sense, BUT it had six of the best acting performances all year, that would still be a great show, yeah?

Still, your point stands.
EVA Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 If you had seen THE NORMAL HEART, you would know. It's terrible. It dominated the acting categories because 1) miniseries/movie was really thin this year, and 2) it's filled with movie stars and Emmy favorite TV players who get nominated based on their name, regardless. Of the nominated actors, only Bomar is really good in it it. And the only other strong performance, by Taylor Kitsch, didn't even get nominated because, you know, they had to nominate Jim Parsons for struggling mightily to not be Sheldon and Alfred Molina for being Alfred Molina in a nothing role.
Technico Support Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 I haven't seen it but yeah, my impression was voters saw "name actors" and "AIDS" and just started ticking checkboxes.
LethalStriker Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 So why is the Emmys on a monday night this year? These award shows usually are always on a sunday night.
odessasteps Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 NBC has them this year i think. Not going to disrupt King Football.
Kuetsar Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 NBC has them this year i think. Not going to disrupt King Football. Plus they are about a month or so earlier than usual as well. . . .
LethalStriker Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Well, okay that all makes sense then. They should be in August anyways that way they air prior to the next season of episodes.
John from Cincinnati Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Is there any way I can express my hope for back-to-back wins for Jeff Daniels without coming off like an asshole?
piranesi Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 WHAT THE FUCK IS "MOM"???? Literally the first time I'm hearing that this show exists is when it is winning Emmys. I watch plenty of t.v., too. The fuck?
EVA Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 I should really be over the Emmys' fascination with MODERN FAMILY by now, but come the fuck on. You have a choice between Andre Braugher and Tony Hale, and you chose...some shmuck from that fucking show.
piranesi Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Hey guys, if we want to prove that the "networks" are still alive we can just give a bunch of shit to Modern Family and everyone will probably kind of go along.
piranesi Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 ABC CBS NBC IS WHATYOU GET FUCKING TAKE IT YOU MONEKEYS>>>> JOHN ABCCBSNBCENA WINS!!!!! 1
Dolfan in NYC Posted August 26, 2014 Author Posted August 26, 2014 The Big Bang Theory and Jim Parsons are not funny. And they never have been. 1
piranesi Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Did they accidentally mix up the Emmy vote database with the AARP Medicaid-Catheter Choice Awards vote database?
piranesi Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 T minus 10 9 8...on Jezebel shitting fire about Bryan Cranston assaulting Julia Louis Dreyfuss for laughs.
EVA Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Woody and McConaughey look marvelous, the sons of bitches.
piranesi Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 This is weird. Half the awards are going to really bland 'Nielson family" shows and the other half are going to a BBC show that airs on PBS that most US viewers over the age of 40 have never heard of.
EVA Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Yeah, I'm a little surprised it's turned into a SHERLOCK love-in, but that probably speaks to how weak a year it was in the movie/miniseries department. Better that than defaulting to Let's Award A Show That Tackled The Issues and giving shitty THE NORMAL HEART everything, though. I mean, FARGO blew away everything else in this category by a wide margin, but it's on FX, so it was lucky to get the time of day to begin with.
piranesi Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 I feel like if Weird Al actually wrote this...he wrote it in the car on the way over.
J.T. Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Tatiana Maslany getting snubbed AGAIN is a tragedy I call bullshit.
EVA Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Well, there's the egg on my face. FARGO IS TOO INCREDIBLE TO BE DENIED.
Niners Fan in CT Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 I think you have to give it to Iggy here... Oh, wrong thread!
