The Natural
This thread is beautiful. Ozil will be great! Moyes won't manage Man Utd like Everton! Liverpool will push for fourth! http://deathvalleydriver.com/forum/index.php?/topic/476-september-2013-football-thread/ I won't be forgetting Raziel403's David Moyes/Manchester United rants this season.
Jiji
Good on the FA for this: http://www.thefa.com/news/2014/may/remembering-bradford-stadium-disaster Haven't heard any TV/radio coverage about the Bradford Cty fire disaster yet. No minutes silence apparently. Didn't expect any sadly. Shameful. Yeah, that's a shitty deal. You don't hear anything of the Bradford City fire disaster on any North American coverage, 'cause all they care about are the big moneymakers. Sucks. And to be fair, Özil was great for about three months.

The Natural
Are you a Derby fan too or are you referring to the other semi? It warms me to think there's another Derby fan on the board. Yes, I'm a Derby fan. Congratulations to both of you. Further thanks for the tribute by Derby and Brighton to the victims of the Bradford City Valley Parade fire disaster. Good on the FA for this: http://www.thefa.com/news/2014/may/remembering-bradford-stadium-disaster Haven't heard any TV/radio coverage about the Bradford Cty fire disaster yet. I'd honestly the same thing if I wasn't a supporter of Bradford City.

ReiseReise
Özil looked pretty good up until his usual bad run of form. It´s always fun to compare the thoughts people had before the season. I guess no-one thought Man U would drop down the way they did, Moyes or no, especially since they basically kept all the players, I expected them to finish top four. The Natural
So La Liga results I'll put in spoilers if you are watching the games later: Atletico Madrid 1-1 Malaga Elche 0-0 Barcelona Celta Vigo 2-0 Real Madrid Only Atletico Madrid and Barcelona can win La Liga now. Final game of the season will decide La Liga...Barcelona vs. Atletico Madrid at Barcelona. Draw will be enough for Diego Simeone's team. Following that its the Champions League Final between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid. Depending on that, Carlo Ancelotti might be free for Manchester United... Death From Above
At the bottom of the table Energie Cottbus who were in the Bundesliga not that long ago reached last place and are relegated together with Dynamo Dresden, a club notorious for pyro-technique and chaotic fan behaviour. The third league won´t like that too much. Not familiar with the club, but just saw a report come out of there on my twitter feed: "Dynamo Dresden relegated. Police escort for their own players at full time. Banner in the crowd reads 'You have one hour to leave the city'." (Accompanying shot of your typical "someone through something flaming on the field in a soccer riot" picture) Oh boy.
piranesi
So, the Arsenal/Suarez thing. Is there like a definitive known set of facts about that. Like, if Arsenal were tougher at business could they have forced John Henry to release him? Or was that nonsense?
Randy
The way I understand it is that they were fed the wrong set of facts and they acted on them. What they were told was proven to be incorrect and came out looking like idiots because of it.

Zheroen
So, the Arsenal/Suarez thing. Is there like a definitive known set of facts about that. Like, if Arsenal were tougher at business could they have forced John Henry to release him? Or was that nonsense? Apparently there was something in the contract obligating Liverpool to notify Suarez of a bid, but that didn't really amount to a release clause and wouldn't stand up to a legal challenge if they (Arsenal/Suarez and his agents) tried to press it as one. So it goes.
Fat Spanish Waiter
I think the real idiot in the whole thing was Pere Guardiola. Arsenal did what they thought they could, Liverpool did the same, Pere was a twat. Although Suarez then signed for 200k a week so I'm sure he's counting his idiot millions in his idiot mansion. cubbymark
There will be a derby of sorts in the Ascenso MX to promote a squad to the Liga MX. Universidad De Guadalajara who were winners of the Apertura 2013 campaign will face Estudiantes Tecos, winners of the Clausura 2014 campaign in a two legged playoff. The winner of this playoff will take Atlante's place in the Liga MX, having been relegated to Ascenso MX after finishing with the lowest points percentage over three full years of competitions. In the Liga MX, Pachuca will face defending champion Leon to crown the Clausura 2014 champion.

Swift
If there's one consolation Liverpool fans can take away from this season, it's that we made it through the season without Skrtel conceding a penalty.
Dewar
He scored four into his own net though. Maybe a penalty given away isn't so bad.
Jiji
That's the joke. Michael Cox of Zonal Marking wrote an interesting article about the Palace game and how it reflected the lack of leadership in the backline. People are ripping on the 24-year-old CB that doesn't speak English well for this but Martin Skrtel surely has to be the guy taking control and sorting out the defence. I think there needs to be a serious overhaul in that area and Rodgers comments after yesterday's match hint at it.
Fat Spanish Waiter
I think the issue was we went for goal difference and got caught. But I wouldn't be sad to see the back of Skrtel. He's looked bad at defending every game.
Jiji
He's flashy though, similar to Carra in that regard. They both put in a mean desperation slide tackle. Plus, he scored 7 goals. I think he'll attract attention. Last year, when his value was at its lowest, Zenit wanted him back. I think we've probably seen the end of Agger too, as Rodgers doesn't seem to favour him. He's not going to be as valuable as when City wanted him, though, and it will be shitty to see off a true red. Johnson can go too. Basically, we need a back 4 of Flanagans.
