odessasteps Posted July 17, 2025 Posted July 17, 2025 Nothing worse than going on vacation and pulling into the hotel right when a massive thunderstorm opens up the heavens.Β
JLSigman Posted July 18, 2025 Posted July 18, 2025 Gonna be a heat index of 107F/41.7C now through Monday. ....it's gonna be 90F/32C in my house Saturday morning, I will bet you. Β
Dolfan in NYC Posted August 8, 2025 Author Posted August 8, 2025 You know, they literally could have done a real life version of the "This is Fine" dog meme in that weather. (That's 47.8C for the rest of you) 1
Tabe Posted August 9, 2025 Posted August 9, 2025 I'm surprised 118 is a record. That's less than we've hit here in Washington. Four years ago, we hit 120. Whatever. 120, 118, it's all just stupid hot.Β
blitzkrieg Posted October 9, 2025 Posted October 9, 2025 No sadder fall tradition than the first day that I turn the heat back on. 1
Curt McGirt Posted October 11, 2025 Posted October 11, 2025 On the contrary, I'm happy. It's the tenth of October. We've had near 90 degree days. This Is Not Right.

Dolfan in NYC Posted October 28, 2025 Author Posted October 28, 2025 Hurricane Melissa is about 12 hours from crushing Jamaica.Β Here's two videos that are simultaneously gorgeous and horrifying: Β The first one is a great visual of what's called the stadium effect.Β Basically winds and pressure force clouds upwards to heights above 50,000 ft (15000 m) in height.Β That makes them hyper intense and unbelievably dangerous.Β The second... well, you have to remember, since they're flying anywhere from 5-20 thousand feet in the air, and those waves are clear as day cresting....Β those are at least 30 - 40' (10+ m) tall.Β Β Jamaica's about to have a very bad night.Β 1
Cobra Commander Posted October 28, 2025 Posted October 28, 2025 it has been interesting how many of the storms this year have swung away from the US... unless you're in Bermuda, if you're in Bermuda, you're probably tired of all the storms getting close to your island

odessasteps Posted November 18, 2025 Posted November 18, 2025 One of my friends in SD said it was colder and rainy than her parents house in Chicago last weekend, having been inside for the last month and rarely going on, wasnβt prepared for 30 F getting up for dayshift at 0430.
odessasteps Posted December 31, 2025 Posted December 31, 2025 We had a wind chill/feels like of 4F thanks to the crazy wind this week. Better than the 2 feet of snow upstate NY got uust yesterday. 1

Dolfan in NYC Posted January 21 Author Posted January 21 There's a storm *that hasn't even formed yet* which is predicted to drop either a metric fuckton of snow on NYC (10-24") or basically nothing at all (1-4") Craziness.Β
odessasteps Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Yeah. Its warmer tonight in the 30sF than last night 10sF but feels colder already bc of the wind. And its only 1900. Let me check back in at 0400.Β
odessasteps Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Stopped at grocery store on way home from work. At leastΒ 1/3 to 1/2 full parking lot at 0640.
Dolfan in NYC Posted January 23 Author Posted January 23 7"-15" predicted for the city, 10"-18" predicted in the Catskills.Β Β Went to a Home Depot for ice melt, they are running LOW. Luckily I got a bag. Β The guy there said a guy tried to buy 10... 10Β pallets.Β Sheer madness. 1
JLSigman Posted January 23 Posted January 23 We're gonna get some sleet/freezing rain Saturday night through Sunday afternoon, which will suck.
