Curt McGirt Posted December 19, 2025 Author Posted December 19, 2025 Pulled this out again. I have no idea why I initially didn't like it (or at least, the latter portion of it). I must've been crazy. This, To the Ends of the Earth, and Metalmorphosis are awesome. Don't remember about When Legend Began, so time to check it out again. Strangely I don't like the earlier punk stuff, which you think I'd be a sucker for.
Curt McGirt Posted December 19, 2025 Author Posted December 19, 2025 "the dynamics of a light switch" hahahahaha
driver Posted December 23, 2025 Posted December 23, 2025 Two Sabaton songs mentioned here and it's "Crossing the Rubicon" that is getting serious airplay on radio. 1
Curt McGirt Posted January 6 Author Posted January 6 I'm kicking myself so hard for having never even TRIED to hear this album until now. It's getting a re-release from High Roller so I thought "hey, give it a try" and it rules so hard. I mean, I've always been a huge Oz fan ever since I got Fire in the Brain on vinyl when I was a kid, I love III Warning, but this is such a rocker. Not a bad song in the bunch and just a perfect solid wall of uptempo, headbanging 1986 HEAVY METAL. Coincidentally this is the same thing! Same year, same love of band, never heard the record for no reason I am aware of. The band is all-black and the first album is, quite frankly, Michael Jackson metal (my own terminology and not meant as an insult in the least). It's really a mix of hard rock and '80s R&B that is totally unique. This on the other hand is straight up metal and the singer even has changed his voice to accompaniment that. Some incredible bass playing on here especially. The first record is piecemeal on Youtube but here's the title track, which is a huge favorite of mine, and very indicative of the style on the record. Interesting stuff! 1
RazorbladeKiss87 Posted January 8 Posted January 8 https://nathair.bandcamp.com/album/nathair The answer to the burning question on everyone's tongue, "What if 'Transylvanian Hunger' era Darkthrone was really into motorcycles?" 2
Curt McGirt Posted January 17 Author Posted January 17 I've never had any interest in Mayhem without Euronymous but that's perfectly fine. They were awesome live. Three-part set -- later stuff, the De Mysteriis with everybody wearing capes with hoods (cowls?), then a full Deathcrush/demos set missing only one or two of the Deathcrush songs where an enormous banner of the coverart fell from the rafters. Attila was having a blast and at the end seemed genuinely happy, grinning like he had just hit the jackpot and shaking fans' hands, handing out picks and sticks, etc. Not very dark at all! 1
RazorbladeKiss87 Posted January 26 Posted January 26 https://kasturn.bandcamp.com/album/the-torchbearer-fades Some raw black metal
Cobra Commander Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Megadeth's "Ride the Lightning" has also been unleashed on the world
zendragon Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Saw the new Dracula movie last night makes me want to hear songs about love and death... and that means Type O Negative... movie would have been better if Big Pete had played the count and had done the score 1
