MARCH WRESTLING DISCUSSION THREAD

RIPPA

Recommended Posts

Deserved or undeserved, Davey has a million warning signs on him. So it makes complete sense TNA would throw the belts on the wolves right away without making them prove they can play ball. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this all plays out.

I took way too much enjoyment in the Kaval experiment. So happy they made a sequel.

So Vince is officially a billionaire again.

From the entertainment industry comes Vince McMahon ($1.2 billion), the third-generation wrestling promoter. McMahon was briefly a billionaire over a decade ago but this is the first time he officially joins the Forbes Billionaires ranks, thanks to his exceedingly popular World Wrestling Entertainment, which is broadcast in 150 countries. http://www.forbes.com/sites/alexmorrell/2014/03/03/billionaires-2014-record-number-of-newcomers-includes-sheryl-sandberg-jan-koum-michael-kors/

I love that someone spoiled a TNA PPV that hasn't aired yet and nobody cares.

ETA: I don't care either, no need to spoiler it

I didn't know they were putting those Japan matches on PPV?

I thought it was airing 3/9, but that's Lockdown.  Apparently it's airing "later this year" as a One Night Only PPV.

Re: the American Wolves and the tag title switch

I'm kinda assuming they switched the tag titles for the Japan show, then belatedly realized they had episodes of Impact pre-taped with the Bro Mans still tag team champions.

This matchlist is absolutely horrible, especially given the theme. Just wretched.

Question:

Why does "Raw is getting rewritten" get mentioned at all in wrestling NEWZ~ stuff?

Saturday Night Live has been broadcasted live for 30 years. They rewrite until the minute the show starts. They have a live final rehearsal where they determine the last sketch to get cut and, after that, still work out some lines depending on reactions at the dress runthrough.

Factor this in with Raw -- They don't have a dress rehearsal. It's just "Here we go, it's live."

It'd be a story if they weren't rewriting until that close to the show.

That's apples and oranges.  I don't think Lorne Michaels comes in on a Saturday morning and tells everybody "Tonight's show isn't funny.  Write something else."

Yes. He does.

Only two wrestling dreams I can remember are falling asleep during a rain delay at Wimbledon, and American Badass era Taker rode out to centre court on his motorcycle, getting the Royal box (which was filled with Nintendo characters) to do the fist wave to "American Badass", before doing the rope walk along the net and giving Andy Roddick a savage beatdown.

Other than that, a really weird one when I was about 8 years old, that King Kong Bundy and Bam Bam snapped and murdered Razor Ramon during a beatdown on Monday Night Raw. Not sure why.

If they're rewriting promo scripts and shit then sure, I suppose they are. If they're still making decisions about what angles to run and how best to build their main programs and what matches they need to put on to do that then they're doing something wrong. Saturday Night Live isn't trying to build to ComedyMania.

Ha and SNL is always unfunny so maybe he should stop

There is a nice parallel in that both rosters are full of people who are great at improv (of different types) and often super funny when they are doing their own thing.  But the producer of their show forces them into a kind of frame that makes them seem dull and formulaic and erases all their charisma and cleverness.

Like, Damien Sandow = Bobby Moynihan exactly this way.
