Raziel Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Man, if you told me 5 years ago I'd be hearing "The Seahawks are World Champs" at the end of a Superbowl, I'd have slapped you silly.
muhammedboehm Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 "I don't think this ultimately affects how he is remembered whatsoever." Yeah, because that's how sports punditry works. Ultimately, no one remembered the three SB losses John Elway had. Different circumstances, mind you, but time does create a fuzzy memory. But they do remember the 4 Jim Kelly lost
JLSigman Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 OK, I'm out. Weird game, some good ads. Y'all be safe going home. ;-)
Niners Fan in CT Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Congrats Seahawks fans. I know there's a couple of you on here. Tremendous game. AFC is pitiful.
Brian Fowler Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 "I don't think this ultimately affects how he is remembered whatsoever." Yeah, because that's how sports punditry works. Ultimately, no one remembered the three SB losses John Elway had. Different circumstances, mind you, but time does create a fuzzy memory. Timing is everything. (And, of course, Peyton is, afaik, not retiring, so he may very well get another shot) but Elway's career fits a redemption narrative so incredibly well. By ending with the two wins, he re-contextualized the three loses.

Um...I would say a lot of people remember the Skins beating Elway because of Doug Williams...

piranesi Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Ladies and Gentlemen, stay tuned to Fox for the premier of FORTUNE HUNTER!!!! If you get this...God bless you. 1
dogwelder Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 So does Wilson qualify for "Flacco Money" after this? I believe he still has another year or two on his rookie contract.
Brian Fowler Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I don't know. I mean, he didn't go on the same kind of insane run Flacco did last year. Flacco had arguably the best playoff run ever by a QB last year.
Burgundy LaRue Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 And the first QB from the 2012 draft to win a SB is the wee hobbit. That ain't right.
EVA Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Haha. I just spoke to my grandmother. She's a big fan of the Manning's and she is FURIOUS. She is convinced it's all "the gamblers" fault. So much is Kenny Rogers fault. IT GETS BETTER. I tried to explain to her that, you know, sometimes the other team is just better than your team and you lose without anybody having to throw the game, and she said to me: "You're just too good-hearted and honest to understand how the world works."

I'd like to see your gramma do a promo battle with HHH now. I think she'd do better than most. 1
piranesi Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I see they got the trophy away from that guy from HALLOWEEN III. That's something. 1

Kuetsar Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 How does Michael Strahan have a daily talk show when he can barely speak English?
RIPPA Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Networks really need to do a better job counter programming the Super Bowl post game so that I am not watching the fucking updated Newlywed Game. I clearly loathe myself
