WWE Network pontificating

Fat Spanish Waiter

I'm uncertain how the WWE's internet will be able to handle the amount of traffic. They barely handled a WrestleMania live stream, what makes anyone think they can handle the amount of traffic necessary continuously? They would have to almost double in size to do it and not to mention the whole nuts and bolts of securing online transactions.

I like what it's offering (the PPV archives, Raw's/Nitro's, etc.) but hate everything else (Legends House, WrestleMania Rewind). I really want to see AWA/70s WWWF/70s - 80s NWA wrestling but that's too much to ask.

They're using MLB.tv's infrastructure so it's not like they're building it from the ground up.

AWA etc will be there in time, I'm sure.

Yeah, so we are going to be creating some sort of WWE Network viewing club right?  Kind of like a book club, but with classic wrestling footage.  I think we should start at the beginning of the PPV era, but we are going to need a way to share this cornucopia on the board.

I wanted to suggest this but I was hoping you'd all wait until Canada got on board.

I subscribed to MLB.tv for I dunno 5-6 years now and it's had hiccups. This last year was the first time I remember them not having an outage although to be fair I used it a lot less this season because the Pirates were actually good. Just saying, I remember people going absolutely apeshit over the service going down for one night and not getting to see CC Sabathia pitch against the Mariners, I can only imagine how people would react if something happened during 'Mania.

That said, I think this might be the most brilliant move Vince and co. have ever made. For years now I've been wondering why they don't sign a deal with Amazon or Netflix and just stream all their content. Looks like they decided to just skip the middleman and make their own WWE-centric version of Netflix.

I can't wait for it.

The whole WCW PPV archives is enticing so much random and absurd stuff with good to great wrestling throughout. Even during the dying days they're was some gems especially and sadly towards the end.

It's what sold me on it.

Old PPVs in general sold me. I was a WWF guy forever, have never seen a full WCW PPV. I'm really looking forward to watching it all with you guys' guidance.

Don't forget RoboCop at Capital Combat. That better be in the archive.

You are in store for some high highs, and some hilariously low lows.  WCW was a strange, strange, place.

FSW needs to watch Spring Stampede '94. Actually, '94 prior to Hogan's arrival... most of it is fucking great but Spring Stampede might be the best PPV ever.

Also all the 1989 PPVs.

I hope Clashes end up on the network.

Hell, I paid to see that on PPV. Mostly for Steiners-v-Doom, I think.

I'm wondering if there might be ways to get around the no-Canada thing.  There are certainly ways to get at the Netflix USA video library from a Canadian computer.

Might?

MIGHT?

It's the greatest pro wrestling show ever, period, full fucking stop.

Slamboree '94 right after it is top 5 all-time, as well.

How big is this network?

For nearly 48 hours, this board has talked about it MORE than it's talked about whether or not Daniel Bryan is getting screwed by his current angle.

Since I was like 9-years old I always wanted an all-wrestling channel and now we have it...in Netflix form Plus it also runs 24/7.  I mean, it really is a dream come true as long at it holds up on my platforms.

Fowler, how does Austin/Steamboat hold up? Slamboree is definitely one of the first events on my watch list.

On one hand, the Austin/Steamboat series holds up really well.

On the other, they didn't wrestle at that show, Austin had a kick-ass match with Johnny B. Badd and Steamboat was oddly not on the card.

Their stuff kicked off at the following Clash, iirc, and then also had the Bash at the Beach match.

I prefer Spring Stampede 99, it may have the best undercard ever.
