Am I the only one that thinks the casting for the movie seems.... off? They made very little effort to make them look like the characters from the games. I don't think it has to be exactly right, and if its well acted that is what matters, but it threw me off just from the jump.

"Hey, so Roland is this huge dude that looks like he could bench press your car. Who should we get to play that role?"

"Uhhh, I dunno, Kevin Hart?"

Other than that, I thought they did okay with it.

The bigger thing that bugs me about Kevin Hart in the role is that Roland is the stoic straightman in an otherwise absurd universe. Hard to think of anyone that is less of a stoic straightman than Kevin Hart.

Otherwise, whatever. It's a video game movie I hope people enjoy it.

We're less than two weeks from the launch of Borderlands 4, so I'll go ahead and bump this unless someone thinks it's worthy of starting a whole new thread for.

I'm excite. They are saying all the right things but even if they weren't, Borderlands is a series I play couch co-op with my brother and we always have a great time.

Seeing some of the early reviews and everything seems to be overwhelmingly positive so far.

Yes, I know to take most reviews with enough salt to spike your blood pressure, but it's something, at least.

This is a random thing to reply to a year and a half after the fact, but as far as actor's go, I'd bet Kevin Hart bench press is in the 85 percentile.  He's the size of a toddler, but he's in great shape.  He reminds me of my friend Ed, who one of our female friends called petite.  For what it's worth, I'm only 5'7", but I'm built like a fullback.  We used to go to the gym and lift the same weights despite the fact that I had at least 60 lbs. on him and I have above average strength for my size.

Oh, and I'm super excited to play Borderlands 4, and have cleared my schedule so I can play as much as possible this weekend.  No, I didn't completely forget what I came here to say while I was imagining how much Kevin Hart bench presses.

In their defense, that might have been around the time that Congress passed that law that mandates either Jack Black, Kevin Hart, or Pedro Pascal has to be in absolutely everything.

I am waiting for the install to finish

I am starting to accept that if I want physical copies - I’m gonna need to order from Amazon and hope it shows up on time (since I really don’t want to shop at GameStop anymore)

The co-op on this one isn't cross-platform, is it?

It is cross platform if you sign up for a SHIFT account with Gearbox

If not tha you can only play co-op with people on the same syatem

Also remember - cross save and cross progression are not available (at least for now)

I should have known that @Robert C and melraz would be playing before me 🤣

I think I started one minute after they enabled it.  First game I’ve bought in over a year.  I have exactly zero idea what I’m doing so far. I did learn thresher mating calls last night, though.

Oh yeah - I am constantly getting my ass kicked

One tip I saw was switching the hud from compass to radar to make it easier to figure out where the fuck you are getting attacked from

I finished the campaign this weekend with Vex at level 31. I saved almost all of the side quests for after the story and it probably would have helped to be a few levels higher as towards the end it was unnecessarily harder than it needed to be as the enemies were between level 34-36. I think overall there were a lot of positives and some negatives.

Good

-Gun play felt really really good. I liked the variety of guns and how manufacturers made the gun feel different. Not a fan of The Order guns but I could just use something else.

-I ended up liking the art style a lot more than usual. I also did not have nearly the problems that others had on PC performance wise. My main issue was the lag coming out of menus but overall not too bad.

-Legendaries feel important again.

-Not having to save quit to farm bosses is great. I can't express how nice of a change this is.

-Genuine surprises in the story. I think the best part of the story is the action right before we head up to fight The Timekeeper. It made sense why it worked and it was really the smartest thing I've seen The Timekeeper do since the start of the game.

-I liked the breadcrumb at the very end to have a hook into either the DLC or BL5.

Not as good

-While the story was better than 3 by a country mile, I never felt the danger from The Timekeeper. It feels like they wanted him to be discount Handsome Jack and he just didn't have the personality to pull it off. I do think I am rather hard on him because if this is the first movie in the series, then the bad guy is only a henchman so perhaps they save the personality for whoever's the true big bad.

-With their being so many enemies of differing element types, I felt like I had to constantly switch guns to get the correct element to summon my minions or damage the enemy properly. Probably could have been solved by me playing a kinetic build instead.

-I feel like the vault fight and the story behind that will be looked on much more fondly once we get more information but as of now it just seems like ramblings.

Overall I am looking forward to playing the rest of the characters and getting them to 50. The DLC's historically have been amazing for the Borderlands ML series so I can't wait to see what they have in store for us.

I am becoming really sick and tired with the waypoints/mission tracking in this game

The fact they just decided to do whatever the fuck they want whenever isn't helpful

Nor is it helpful for the game to drop a world event right on the spot where I need to go
